Welcome to this week’s edition of Friday Book Round Up! Today, I reviewed a superb military romance and it got me thinking about other ones I consider top-notch. Why do I love military romances, you may be asking yourself? Everyone deserves love and romance, especially heroes. I have a huge respect for those brave men and women who defend our freedoms and fight for those who cannot. So, here are my top ten must-reads:
Will his call of duty break both their hearts?
Losing her father in Desert Storm has left Stephanie James with a bitter soul when it comes to the military. As a college senior juggling a full course load, Steph’s only goal is to graduate with honors at the end of the semester. She’s focused, determined, and a firm believer in all work and no play. Then she meets Brandon Walker at a New Year’s Eve costume party. Despite his disguise, Steph finds herself attracted to the camouflaged soldier who curls her toes with a scorching midnight kiss.
Brandon is an engineering major and ROTC student from the hills of Kentucky. Growing up as the son of a major general has given Brandon firsthand knowledge of the struggles military families sometimes face. Now that his father’s memory is fading, Brandon is even more determined to make his dad proud and graduate as an officer in the United States Army. Then he meets Stephanie, and suddenly, his focus is less on his military service and more on the pretty brunette who has stolen his heart. When he becomes aware of Steph’s resentment toward the military, he worries their relationship is doomed.
When faced with the realization that she’s fallen in love with a soldier, can Steph’s wounds from the past be healed with love in her present . . . and in her future?

The first thing I noticed when I work up from surgery was the smell of roses. That was weird. So what did I know? My name is Seg. Cole Huntley. I was shipped back from the Middle East after sustaining a burn the size of a dinner plate over my hip and abdomen. After an eighteen-hour flight from hell, I was rushed into the emergency room, knocked out cold, and prepped for emergency surgery. I was in a clean, white, sterile hospital ward, and leaning over me was one of the most beautiful creatures I’d ever seen. I imaged wrapping my big hands all over her tight curves. Oh yes, she would fit nicely under me.
His clear, deep voice rang through to the achy parts inside me. I remembered now. The Marine E5 with the abdominal burn who’d seemed totally unfazed by the fact that he had been blown up. I had been sorry to see him go. Charming, witty… and not bad-looking. Different – very different – from the other service members I’d treated and worked with. It would be so easy. Thoughts of us tangled up in each other flashed through my mind, and I found myself eyeing Cole from top to bottom again. Sometimes I regretted it, always having to be professional.
