Storm Warning EBOOK lighter 10192015 copy

Title: Storm Warning: Thunder Point Book 1

Author: Livia Quinn

Genre: Romantic Suspense, Contemporary Romance

Book Blurb:

You’ve killed him, Bad Brenna taunted. Brenna looked down the steps at the man lying motionless in the tropical downpour. I told you that silly phobia would get you in trouble if you didn’t get a grip.

Brenna knew she was right, knew it was exactly why Bad Brenna existed, to help her cope with the trauma that had turned her into a scared rabbit whenever lightning was in the forecast. But her anxiety over the approaching storm had been magnified by yet another premonition. Typically, it meant someone was about to die.

Had she been the means, this time, of fulfilling her own prophecy? As usual there were no clear answers. She needed to start trusting her sixth sense if she was ever going to get rid of Bad Brenna.

But for now, she had an unconscious burglar on her hands…

My Review:

I’m a huge fan of Romantic Suspense and when I discovered Livia Quinn wrote this book right after Katrina, I had to read it!

From the time Brenna was young, she’s had premonitions. Her best friend, Declan, calls it a gift but for Brenna, it’s a nightmare. On the night of the biggest storm she can recall, Brenna has a bad feeling. She can’t figure out what it means, only that someone’s life is in danger. Gripped with terror, she knocks out an unsuspecting stranger trying to get into her house.

The Handsome Stranger (or HS for short) is knocked unconscious (thanks to Brenna) and he reminds Brenna of James Bond, especially when she discovers a gun in his wet clothes. Brenna knows she has to care for him until the storm passes or his blood will be forever on her hands. When he wakes up in a hospital three days later, he has amnesia and doesn’t remember a thing. Wait a sec, he does remember one name: Brenna.

Thus begins a romantic suspense filled with twists and turns. The more Brenna is around him, the harder she’s falling for him. He keeps her at arms length (while devouring her with his eyes) until his memory comes back. There’s a connection between them that neither can explain and when the truth is revealed and his memory returns, will their love grow stronger or be split in two?

Storm Warning is one of the best books I’ve read this year and if I had the chance I’d give it 5,000,000 stars. Yes, it’s that good! I spent most the book trying to figure out who the James Bond look-a-like is and what he’s doing in the middle of the storm. Suspenseful, swoon-worthy romance and Brenna’s best friend (Declan) is sensational comic relief. I will never look at Southern Comfort the same, thanks to Quinn. Run, don’t walk to your favorite retailer and purchase this right now!

Favorite Character:

Brenna. I found a kindred spirit in Brenna and not just because we have an unnatural fear of storms. She’s the kind of character most women can relate to, either they know someone like her or are her to a certain extent. Brenna has a deep-seated fear of lightning and with just cause. Yet, she battles her fear to rescue a complete stranger. No matter what life throws her way (and there’s plenty thanks to Livia), she manages to make it through. She’s such an amazing woman and I loved reading her story.

My Rating:  5+ stars

Author Biography:

A DC native, Livia Quinn moved to the wilds of stormy Louisiana, and with a lifelong fascination (read that: phobia) of lightning, it was only natural that it would play a big part in her world. Her paranormal books take place on the west end of Storm Lake and contemporaries to the east. But that doesn’t mean there’s no magic. What would life be like without a little magic?

  1. Wow, I’m so glad you liked Storm Warning, Mrs. N. This book and the characters are so close to my heart, they’re like family they’ve been with me so long. I can’t wait until it’s time to tell Declan’s story but he shows up for a hint of what’s to come in Merry Christmas, Baby along with some of the other Storm Lake East characters.

I remember when I first submitted this book for publication to an editor many years ago and they thought Brenna was weak. To me, Brenna is just battling through her fears courageously like we all do, until she can break through and live fully.
