Are you thankful for what you have or are you pining for what you don’t have?
I was raised in a household where it was normal to compete with neighbors in an effort to be better. Whether it was cars, homes, clothing or vacations, we had to win. I never understood it, labeled a black sheep in the family and personally don’t subscribe to this belief.
When I got married, I started to feel pressure to buy a house, have a family and so on. My family didn’t understand why, after ten years of married bliss, MR N and I didn’t have a children, a mortgage and buried in debt.
I responded this way: we’re content and happy.
Their response: what’s wrong with you?
MR N and I love the life we lead and are so thankful for what we have. We have a roof over our heads, food to eat, careers both of us love and each other. What more could we ask for?
What are you thankful for?

Oprah’s quote rings true. Stop dwelling on what you don’t have. No matter what’s going on in the world, as long as you’re thankful for everything, you’ll end up having more.
