Be Thankful for What You Have: Reflections on #DDay and Life #inspiration #grateful #thankful

I am thankful for the freedoms to write, speak and inspire others.

Today is D-Day and my thoughts are filled with those brave men and women who stormed the beaches of Normandy. Their actions of bravery were pivotal and their sacrifices were immense. They fought and died so millions could live free.

I’m thankful and grateful for all I have.

I remember a time when MR N and were newly married, barely making ends meet and living in a one-room apartment. We had $20 a week for groceries. There wasn’t any room for any extra expenses but we were content.

As I look back, I recall those simpler times and chuckle. We made every penny stretch and were happy because we had each other. We were together and nothing could come between us. I didn’t bemoan because we didn’t have “stuff”. Heck, we didn’t even have internet. I had to go to the library to check and send emails.

Now, we live in a luxury apartment, with a great view of trees and trains. We’re making more money than we ever have, paying off our debt and can afford to splurge on our upcoming summer vacation. We never thought life could be like this and we’re so thankful.

What’s the key to our success?

Hard work and gratitude.

We both remember struggling and are so incredibly thankful for how far we’ve come.

Be grateful for what you have and you’ll have more than you ever imagined. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never have enough.
