Strength Doesn’t Come From Winning but From Overcoming Pain #inspiration #motivation

strength-as

How much strength does it take to overcome pain?

525 push-ups.

This morning, as I was coming out of the washroom, Mr. N grunted in pain. He was doing his second set of push-ups. I asked him if he was okay. His response: a nod. When he was finished, he did a victory lap and I blew him a kiss.

“Oh baby, I did it. I didn’t know if I could because of this lower back pain.” He pointed to an area of back muscles on his right side. “Right here.”

“Way to go, my love. I knew you could do it! See, you didn’t know if you could make it but then your strength kicked in.”

He smiled and then it hit me. Mr. N’s morning push-ups are a metaphor for life.

When we feel down and can’t take another step, our inner strength kicks in and we have the extra energy/motivation/resolve to see it through. Victory is in our grasp.

We’re all going through our own personal struggles and while it seems pointless right now, in reality, they are building up our mental muscles. Hardship is the best personal trainer in the world.

So as you go about your day and run into a roadblock, think back on Mr. N and how he pushed through the pain to get his push-ups done. If he can do it, then so can you!

Fatigue Makes Cowards of Us All so Keep in Shape! #inspiration #stress #TuesdayMotivation

fatigue

Is fatigue your constant companion these days?

Last week was a difficult week for MR N and me. Work was crazy and both of us were puddles of goo by the time the long weekend came. We took it easy and relaxed on Friday and Saturday. We were almost back to our old selves when Sunday came and we hosted the whole family for Easter. Exhaustion and fatigue set in again. We needed two more days off. Instead, we’re back to work and counting the hours until this coming weekend.

Sound familiar?

Fatigue invades the brain and body like a parasite and if you’re not healthy (physically, I mean), your body will just give up. Both MR N and I are in excellent physical shape, walking 25 km (15 miles) per week. MR N does over 500 push-ups every morning and I do 50 bicycle exercises every afternoon. If our bodies weren’t well-oiled machines, I believe we’d be worse off. Our bodies battle the fatigue and yes, we’re tired, but we haven’t given up.

Listen, stress has a way of beating us up and one of the sure-fire ways to combat it is to exercise. Go for a walk, bike ride, run; play a game like basketball, baseball, softball, hockey, football, soccer. Not only will the fresh air energize you, your focus will be on whatever you’re doing and not on whatever is stressing you out.

Take my advice and battle fatigue with healthy bodies. The exhaustion period will be shorter and you’ll be back to feeling 100% in no time!

In the Sunshine

This morning I was struck by a sight unseen

Joelle walking in the sunshine

So beautiful

Like out of a dream.

Your glasses

Your smile

Your hair just so

I was amazed by your beauty

By the ability to love you even more.

You are so beautiful

‘Tis you I adore

I love you my angel

More now

Forever more.

Today we’re going to talk about love of the outdoors.

I love being outside. I think it stems from my nature walks I used to take with my mom. We didn’t have a lot of money when I was young but that didn’t stop us from having grand adventures.

Every Saturday morning, we’d head out to the library. We’d spend most of the morning reading books and deciding which books to check out. In the afternoon, if the weather allowed us, we’d go for a nature hike. We’d listen to the birds singing, try to identify various flowers and trees, explore new paths and have a terrific time. She’d teach me about the importance of nature and the world around us.

Those memories molded me into the nature-loving person I am today. Every morning, I go outdoors for my walk. When my to-do list is overwhelming and work’s stressing me out, a walk outside helps center myself. I watch the leaves rustle in the breeze, listen to the birds singing and become one with nature.

Do you have a favorite activity you love doing outdoors? I’d love to hear so share in the comments below.

No matter what you have going on today, take a moment or two and get outside. Go for a walk or take a bike ride. Commune with nature and give thanks for the beauty of the outdoors.

Don’t Stop When You’re Tired… #inspiration #motivation #exercise

tired

Are you tired?

I’m tired. This week is the longest one on record and everything seems to take longer. I know I know, I’m burned out and in need of a vacation. The thing is, I’m feeling spent and even the simplest of tasks saps my energy.

When I’m at my weakest, my Light shines brighter. I’m relying on my inner strength and I keep going. It’s times like this that life teaches me valuable lessons.

Don’t stop when you’re tired; stop when you’re done.

No matter how tired you are, keep going! The best is yet to come. In fact, a rest stop is just around the corner. 🙂

Are You Taking Care of Yourself? You Should! #Inspiration #MondayBlogs #Health

taking care of yourself

For the past few weeks, MR N and I have been battling stress and fatigue. Our  summer vacation is 32 days away and we know we can make it. This past weekend, we pretty much unplugged from the world because we knew our bodies needed rest most of all. So, we listened to our bodies and rested.

Do you listen to your body?

I saw this graphic online and I thought to myself how accurate it was. So many of us chalk up our health as another thing to do on our ever-increasing list of appointments in our planner. It doesn’t quite work that way.

Being healthy is the foundation of life, not an afterthought.

I walk every day and the main reason why I walk has nothing to do with losing weight. I walk to stay healthy. My lung capacity is stronger than most women my age and I’m proud of that fact. I walk because I want to be around for a long time.

Listen to your body. Tune in and get to know your body. See what makes it hum like a beautiful machine. Take care of your body because it’s the only one you get.

Do you have any tips for staying healthy? I’d love to hear from you! Comment in the box below and together we can all be healthy.

Are You Exhausted and/or Dealing with #Fatigue? Listen to Your Body #inspiration #health

fatigue

Are you feeling fatigued and/or burned out?

I woke up feeling fatigued and exhausted. My lower back complained and pain rocked my body. I’m exhausted. My body is screaming for a break and I have no choice but to listen.

One of the ways I battle fatigue is to go for a walk. The fresh air rejuvenates my lungs and cleanses my soul. The music I listen to is filled with happy beats and lyrics.

Listen to your body and do something to refresh yourself.

I strongly recommend going for a walk or exercise. Empty your mind of all the to-do’s and stressors. Release it all and be in the moment.

Another recommendation is meditation/prayer. Be one with yourself and your spirituality. Let peace fill your body with every breath.

Our body knows what we need and when it’s fatigued, it is informing us it needs a check-up STAT!

Don’t ignore the symptoms but combat fatigue head-on! You’ll be feeling great in no time!

What do you do to deal with exhaustion and fatigue? Any tips to share would be much appreciated!
