Stop Invoking Chicken Little and Manage Your Time Effectively! #inspiration #motivation

Managing your time without setting priorities is like shooting randomly and calling whatever you hit the target. – Peter Turla

Time management is something that each of us struggles with.  We have a never-ending list of things to do and places to go.

Today, I have a lot to do and not enough hours in the day to complete them. How am I not running around screaming like Chicken Little? I manage my time.

Read the above quote.

Sounds moronic, right? But it happens to millions of people every day.

I take full advantage of each and every minute of my day.  I have a list of things to do and I stick to it.  When there is a little lag time, I try to incorporate two things at once.

Need help with managing your time? Get a daily planner, write down what you need to accomplish in the day and as you complete each task check it off. You will feel so much better than running yourself ragged.

Manage your time or it will manage you.

What Do You Fear? Stop Letting It Run You Over! #inspiration #FridayFeeling

Replacing Fear Alan Watts

What do you fear?

I was watching television the other night and a commercial came on about motor oil. It was all about not allowing fear to take over and keep moving. The voice-over recited a poem from Alan Watts and part of it is above. Pretty inspiring, eh?

Fear can paralyze us, prevent us from living life to the fullest. But that only happens if we let it. We have the power to say no to fear and yes to all of life’s possibilities.

Rev up your engine and run over fear as you speed off into the unknown. Let fear eat your dust!

Don’t Let the Darkness Win… Share the Light and Let it Shine! #inspiration #Barcelona

Light Candle

Darkness is covering the world with its evil acts and terrorism. We need to share the Light now more than ever before.

Whether it’s the horrific terrorist attack yesterday in Barcelona, Spain or the KKK and nazis spewing hatred and violence, darkness is covering every nook and cranny of Earth. The only way to keep the darkness at bay is to fight back with these weapons: truth, justice and Light.

Each of us is a carrier of Light, no matter what belief system we follow. We must shine our Light to dispel the darkness. Imagine a single candle in a dark room. It glows a little. Now imagine hundreds of candles in a dark room. The darkness flees and we are basking in light.

Share your Light and spread the truth. Don’t let the darkness win!

Keep Your Head Up and Soldier On! #inspiration #motivation #FridayFeeling

Are you struggling to even get out of bed this morning?

I woke up this morning to my head aching something awful. All I could think of was how much work I had today and how I couldn’t afford to take a sick day. MR N, bless his soul, comforted me and tried to ease my headache. He poured on the positivity and some of it even sank in.

I don’t feel quite like myself but like a war soldier, I keep moving forward. I don’t accept defeat and there’s no retreating, not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

We all have our struggles and there are days when we feel like we’re facing the firing squad. Here’s where our inner strength comes in. God equips every human being with an unstoppable strength and fortitude. God knows what’s coming and gives His fiercest warriors the most important tasks. We must soldier on!

Today I’m going to keep my head and continue marching forward. Who’s with me?

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

I ran across this quote the other day and it really inspired me. It sums up how to live a happy, successful life. Thank you, Tena, for putting into words what it means to live life to the fullest.

Take my advice and be positive, work hard, never give up hope, keep learning new things and surround yourself with encouraging, happy people.

Friday Book Round Up

Friday Book Round-Up Update:

Last week I asked you for help in choosing which book I’ll bring with me on vacation. There were plenty of great responses and after much thought, I decided to go with A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux. I know it wasn’t on my list and I’ve read it a zillion times but it’s a classic and it will allow me to escape.

Friday Book Round-Up is on hiatus (vacation) but will return August 4th.

Thirsty for Water Banner

A Freebie:

As we’re about to go on vacation, we thought we’d give everyone a free book. Thirsty for Water is a mega quick story about a high school girl and her paranormal encounter with a little boy from Africa. It has a good message and is a clean read. No swearing, no adult situations, even little kids would like it.

Blurb —

Juliet can’t wait to graduate from high school and finally move on with her life. Five more days and she’s free. She gazes out the window while her history teacher, Mrs. Johnson, drones on about war, famine and lack of water in Africa.

A gong rings, startling Juliet out of her daydream. She looks around to see if it was one of her classmates pulling a prank when a little boy carrying a spear appears. Is he a ghost or something more? He pleads for her help and before she can argue, she is transported to a small village in Africa. History comes alive like never before and Juliet must decide how she can help Noko and his village before it’s too late.

Thirsty for Water tells the story of Africa and the need for water in an approachable way for children of all ages. A great learning tool for teachers, parents and libraries.

Place Your Hand Over Your Heart and Repeat After Me… #inspiration #FridayFeeling

purpose

My inspirational thought today is short and sweet:

Place your hand over your heart.

Feel that?

That’s called purpose.

You’re alive for a reason.

Don’t give up.

Ever!

#FridayFeeling: Let Your Instincts Guide You Instead of Your Head #inspiration #motivation

instincts

NOTE FROM N. N. LIGHT: There won’t be a Friday Book Round-Up this week. It will return next week (July 14th).

Do you follow your instincts or wait for your head to catch up?

For as long as I can remember, my instincts have never failed me. Whether it’s choosing friends, lovers, opportunities or which way to go when lost, my instincts let me know what’s the best thing to do or where to go.

Instincts are nothing more than a feeling but many people ignore them, choosing to listen to their own head (or logic) instead. There’s nothing wrong with being cautious and using logic through critical thinking to make a decision. But sometimes logic fails us. I’ll give you an example.

When MR N and I were deciding what our future plans would entail back when we were dating, we talked about who would move where. He suggested moving to Canada for five years and then seeing what we felt like doing next. I told him I had to think about it and I did. I sat down and wrote the pros and cons. See, I was living in California with my family surrounding me. If I moved to Canada, I’d be leaving friends and family in order to be with the man I loved. My head told me to stay and my instincts told me to go. I went with my instincts and I’ve never looked back.

Instincts are your inner compass, seeing the winds of change/opportunity long before your head does. Trust in your instincts and let them guide you.

Feeling #Grateful is a Great Way to Attract Positive Things/People! #inspiration #FridayFeeling

grateful

Looking for ways to attract positive things/people to your life?

Feel grateful for all you have, even the bad stuff.

I know that sounds like a weird concept but it’s totally true. Everything in your life, from the good to the bad, is a blessing. The obstacles are your training ground for what’s to come. Every victory is another feather in your cap. Both the good and the bad shape you into who you are.

So today and every day, give thanks for another day on the Earth and for everything in your life. It’ll attract positive things and people to you, like a magnet. Focus on the positive and the Universe will flock to your sunbeams of Light.

Having a Bad Friday? Realize Tomorrow’ll Be Better #inspiration #FridayFeeling #stress

terrible day

Having a bad Friday?

Mr. N and I both woke up with horrific migraines. It’s raining cats and dogs outside, checked my email to find a birthday present for my grandparents has a shipping issues and I’m beyond exhausted. * looks around * Yup, this looks like a bad day.

We’ve all dealt with bad days and we need to remember the quote above. No matter how bad a day it is, we’ve just gotta get through it. For tomorrow may be the best day of our lives.

So, while MR N and I go lay down soon, let’s be gentle with ourselves and look forward to tomorrow.

Instead of Worrying, Accept Some Things are Out of Your Control #inspiration #motivation

happiness

Are you worrying about things that are out of your control?

Worrying doesn’t lead to happiness. All it leads to stress and unhappiness.

Yesterday, I felt like the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. From the time I started working (8:00 am) until the time MR N came home from work, I was an hour behind. I had a to-do list a mile long and kept whispering, “I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date.”

I had a choice. I could worry about how I was going to get everything done before 5:30 pm or I could work through my list, one item at a time.

Which one do you think I chose?

I went with the latter and it worked. Even though it felt like I was constantly behind, eventually I caught up and at 5:30 pm, I completed everything on my to-do list.

Worrying doesn’t do anything except distract you from getting a job done.

Take MR N’s advice: you never have to worry; all is in control.

So Come With Me… to Never Never Land! #inspiration #dreams #FridayFeeling

Dreams Peter Pan

Tinker Bell wants to know if you’re ready for an adventure.

I woke up thinking about Peter Pan, Wendy and Tinker Bell this morning. One of my favorite stories, Peter Pan, ignites my imagination.

Life gets stressful and sometimes I wish I could fly off to Never Never Land (with MR N of course). All I’d have to do is think of happy thoughts and fly high in the sky.

What are some of your happy thoughts?

Go on, think hard.

Here’s a few of mine:

MR N

A bunny hopping along the grass, stopping every now and again to nibble.

Listening to Pink Floyd with my dad.

Reading a good book.

Walking/Shopping at our local Farmer’s Market with MR N.

A lavender-scented bubble bath.

The sound of birds chirping.

Life can be a grand adventure and you can create your own little version of Never Never Land. All you need is a child-like belief and happy thoughts. Soar above the toil and trouble of your day.

Tinker Bell is waiting for you.

Today’s a Fresh Start, a Blank Page so Make the Most of Today! #inspiration #FridayFeeling

fresh start

What’s your daily outlook?

Happy Friday, everyone! Today’s we’re talking about changing your outlook.

When you wake up in the morning, do you greet the day with a smile or a frown?

Even when I’m tired and feeling exhausted, sleeping through the alarm, there’s a little tingle of delight that courses through my veins as I get out of bed.

It’s a brand new day and I wonder what’s going to happen.

No matter what transpired yesterday or what will happen tomorrow, today’s a fresh start. Every sunrise signals a brand new day and you should remember that, especially today.

Don’t wallow in the past or pine for the future; grab today by the shirttails and take advantage of every opportunity!

Note: This weekend is a long weekend for us. Up here in Canada, it’s Victoria Day Weekend and we’re taking the next three days off. We’ll be back online on Tuesday.

Eeyore’s Conclusion: Life is Good! #inspiration #Friday #advice

Friday Eeyore quote

What makes you happy?

Here are some things that make me happy:

A kiss from my husband in the morning.

The sun shining.

Seeing wildlife while taking my morning walk.

Laughing.

Writing.

Reading.

Watching Winnie the Pooh.

I grew up on the famous A.A. Milne series.  Every time I read or watch Winnie the Pooh (and his many friends), a smile spreads across my face.  It brings me back to a simpler time, my childhood.  I smile to myself and everything seems right with my world.

I love the above quote.  Eeyore says life is good, especially today because it’s Friday.  For those of you who are not familiar, Eeyore is a somber character.  He has troubles keeping his tail on, his house standing and many other things that bring him down.  His voice is low and sad.

But every once in awhile, he finds a balloon or a field of dandelions and is happy.  He doesn’t jump up and down.  He doesn’t scream excitedly.  He slightly smiles to himself and revels in it.

We could learn a lot from Eeyore.  Life can throw a lot at us.  It can be easy to be down and out.  But we have to remember to find what makes us happy and enjoy.

Find what makes you happy and hold onto it, even in the tough times.

MRS N
