What are You Going to Achieve in 2018? Without Goals, You’re Stagnant! #inspiration #goals

2018 goals

Happy New Year! It’s a brand new year, full of possibilities, adventures and achievements.

What are you going to accomplish in 2018?

Looking back, I met 90% of my goals in 2017. I tried new things and met some wonderful people. I pushed myself hard and am pleasantly surprised by all that I accomplished. It’s amazing what you can do when you set high goals for yourself.

It’s 2018 and I have a long list of goals I want to achieve. Some of them are personal (I resolve to kiss MR N more) while some are professional (I resolve to republish POTL and write POTL 2). I’m stretching myself in ways I’ve never done before. It’s exciting and I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings.

If you’re not into New Year’s Resolutions, then sit down and write out yearly, monthly, weekly goals. I’ve learned through experience that when you have goals for yourself, you reach new heights you never thought possible. Tip: Be very specific in your goals. Don’t just say, I’m going to be healthy and lose weight. Instead say how you’re going to be healthy. My healthy goal includes drinking 64 ounces of water daily and walking four times a week.

What’s a goal you want to accomplish in 2018? Share below and together we all can cheer each other on!

Goals Are Nothing More Than Life’s Road Maps… #inspiration #motivation #FridayFeeling

goals Les Brown

December is here and boy, the year has flown by! I was looking through my planner and I happen to spot my yearly goals. I looked it over and surprisingly I have met most of my goals!

What are you goals for the current year?

I love making goals and then pursuing them. I learned a long time ago that if you make goals, no matter how far fetched they may seem at the time, your life will unfold in the most amazing ways!

Read this quote again and ask yourself, “Am I setting goals for myself and going after the life I want?”

It’s not too late. Think about what you would like to achieve for the next two weeks and then plan to make it happen! You’re the only one who can do it and the only roadblock too.

I believe in you and you can do it!

What are your goals?

Here are a few of mine:

– Relax and enjoy the Christmas season. Last year, it was crazy-busy, and I didn’t stop to enjoy it.

– Blog at least five times a week.

– Try at least four new Christmas baking recipes.

Strive to Always Improve Through Goal-Setting and Perseverance! #inspiration #motivation

work improve

Are you basking in what you’ve accomplished or are you reaching for the stars?

Back in January, I made a group of goals I wanted to accomplish this year. One of the things I wrote down was I wanted to be a Top 1000 Amazon Reviewer. I reached that goal this summer. Did I sit back once I reached it? Heck no! I pushed myself harder and harder.

Yesterday, I got a notification that I’m now a Top 500 Reviewer! I couldn’t believe it. I was speechless, jumping up and down with excitement coursing through my veins. I emailed MR N and told him the great news. He’s just as excited as me.

Will I stop? No way! I’ll keep pushing myself to be the best reviewer I can, growing and persevering through all challenges.

Just because you’ve reached one goal doesn’t mean you’re done. Life is a constant journey of climbing one mountaintop after another. Some will be easy while others will seem impossible. With each success, we’ll be critiqued by others. Is she as good as she appears? Did she cheat to get to where she is or did she work her bum off? What will she do next?

The secret to life is to keep growing, keep trying new things, keep setting goals and reaching for the stars.

How are your yearly goals going? Share in the comments below.

#1 Key to Success: Believing in Ourselves #inspiration #motivation #TuesdayThoughts

believe in yourself

Feeling frustrated and down?

Keep focused on your goals and refuse to let a little self-doubt set up a tent in your soul.

You know that old saying where it talks about how you’ve got to believe in yourself before others will? Well, I’m here to tell you it’s totally true. You can’t expect other people to invest in you when you don’t exude confidence in your abilities.

Over the weekend, the winners of a book award were announced and we didn’t win. Heck, we weren’t even a finalist. Was I disappointed? Sure. Does the fact that a group of judges didn’t care for our poetry book stomp out my belief in our writing talent? NO WAY!

We all deal with roadblocks and there are times when we’re faced with a belief crisis. Do you keep going or do you stop? Are you good enough or are you a failure? What happens next?

The difference between those who succeed and those who don’t boils down to belief, courage and determination. Yes, you’ll encounter set-backs. Yes, you’ll be tested. Yes, you’ll second-guess your goals. No matter what, keep going! Let your determination lead the way and before long, you’ll be a roaring success!

When You Hit a Roadblock, Try a Different Path! #inspiration #motivation #ThursdayThoughts

Are you dealing with roadblocks on your way to achieving your goals? Is frustration making you rethink your goals?

STOP! It’s not your goals that need a readjustment but the plan to get there needs tweaking.

I have certain writing goals that are taking longer than I thought to achieve. Am I feeling frustrated? Sure, but I know it’s a long road to the top and I need to keep trying new things. I keep writing my stories, blogging every day and with each baby step I learn what works and what doesn’t.

When I hit a roadblock, I steer myself around it and try to navigate through on the same path. If I can’t, then it’s back to the drawing board. I redraw a plan and take a different route. There’s more than one way to achieve a goal and most of the time, it take five or ten plans to make it happen.

Don’t get discouraged when your initial plan doesn’t work. Change the plan, not the goal. Stay motivated.

Write Down Your Dreams so They Become Tangible! #inspiration #motivation #ThursdayThoughts

setting goals

Dreams are just dreams until you write them down. Once you write them down, they give birth and become goals.

One of the most important lesson I learned in life was the simple act of writing down my dreams. See, dreams are like air; you can’t see them yet you know they’re there. But when you write down your dreams, they become visible and tangible. Dreams, once written down, become goals and we all know about goal-setting.

Cowboys Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith at the ripe age of 22 wrote down his dreams. He wanted to become the all-time leading rusher in the NFL. He hadn’t played one snap on the field yet he wrote it down. He kept his list with him and used it as inspiration. The result? He achieved his goal and many more.

My advice: write down your dreams and use the list as motivation. You have the power to make your wildest dreams come true.

Your Journey Begins With a Single Step… #inspiration #WednesdayWisdom #goals

Are you struggling with life and feel like your dreams are out of reach?

Making your dreams a reality comes down to a series of single steps. Taking one step at a time, edging closer to your goals, is the most effective way to reaching your dreams. Sure, you can try to take a shortcut but in my experience, it only detours you.

Five years ago, if you had told me I’d be a published author and co-running an author promotions business, I wouldn’t have believed you. I would’ve told you, and I quote, “You’re freakin’ out of your mind. I’m not an entrepreneur; I can’t even balance our household budget.” It’s interesting what can happen in five years when you take it one step at a time.

It’s not easy, making your dreams come true. In fact, it takes a lot of hard work, perseverance, faith and sacrifices. They’ll be obstacles so high, you won’t have a clue how you’ll overcome. The key is to not pole vault to the finish line but to take it one step at a time.

What goals/dreams are you pursuing? Feeling worn out or discouraged? Don’t be. Instead, look at all you’ve accomplished then focus on the next step. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Rule #1, Don’t Be #2 by @danmilstein is the #Motivation You Need! #books #bookreview #goals

Rule number 1 don't be number 2

Title: Rule #1, Don’t Be #2: You Get What You Work For, Not What You Wish For

Author: Daniel Milstein

Genre: Business, Self-Improvement, Entrepreneur

Book Blurb:

In his fourth book, RULE #1 DON’T BE #2, Daniel Milstein inspires like never before, challenging us to dream BIG with his charismatic candor, giving us each a compelling glimpse into our own limitless potential. In addition to Dan’s riveting accounts of overcoming adversity, Rule #1 Don’t Be #2 captivates with countless stories of those who’ve dominated their respective fields against seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Framed in Dan’s fast-paced, conversational style and his best-loved, thought-provoking quotes, we’re gifted the life-changing lessons of the world’s greatest achievers. Don’t miss Dan’s heartfelt tutorial that is destined to become a giant in the motivational genre, and beyond.

My Review:

Stop what you’re doing right now and pick up this book!

Whether you are an entrepreneur, business manager, teacher, writer, student, professional athlete, or in-between opportunities, you’re not dreaming BIG enough and need some hard-hitting motivation. Rule #1, Don’t be #2 is Dan Milstein’s fourth book and boy, is it inspiring! Dan’s writing style is similar (I imagine) to talking with him in person. He shows us, through catchy, digestible phrases and his own experiences, how to live a successful life, both professionally and personally. Not since first reading Stephen Covey more than twenty-five years ago, have I been blown away by a business motivational book.

The best part, for me, was Dan speaking freely about potential, hard work, perseverance and success. Dan’s background as an Ukrainian immigrant with seventeen cents in his pocket touched me. He worked his way through the ranks to achieving mind-blowing success. The more I read through this book, the more I felt like it was written for me. As an entrepreneur trying to grow my business, Rule #1, Don’t Be #2 opened my eyes to the possibilities. I’ve just got to dream BIG and never get complacent.

I highly recommend this book to everyone, young and old. It’ll change your perspective and inspire you to do BIG things, more than you ever thought possible. Writers/Authors: pick up this book and discover how to increase your brand and business.

The Secret to Success in Life is to Have Greater Goals! #inspiration #goals #WednesdayWisdom

How’s your yearly goals (New Year’s resolutions) going?

We’re five months into 2017 and I’m gaining ground on each of my goals. Here’s a recap of my 2017 goals:

Personal –

– I resolve to panic less. This is something I continue to work on. Stress tends to kick my butt and I move quickly to panic. I know, I know, I should really take my own advice. lol!

– I resolve to exercise four times a week.

– I resolve to pamper my body/skin. My body does the best it can and the older I get, the more I need to take care of it.

– I resolve to snuggle/kiss MR N lots. This is a fun one and something we’re both interested in. lol!

Professional –

– I resolve to increase our author promotions business by 25%.

– I resolve to write four times a week. My muse is kicking my butt and threatening a hunger strike if I don’t start writing again. Time to get back to writing.

– I resolve to leapfrog Amazon Rankings in 2017.

– I resolve to publish an Inspirational Thought book.

So, how am I doing? I’m surpassing all my personal goals with ease. It was a challenge in February to not panic due to the tax bill but MR N helped me in that area. He was the calm in the storm and I clung to him.

As far as professional goals, here’s an update:

– As of today, we’ve increased our author promotion business by 20%. I’m working really hard to expand our clientele and get the word out.

– I’ve been writing at least three times a week. When I was sick with that bad virus, I didn’t have the energy to write. I’m healthy once again so I am back to writing. Princess of the Light 2 is coming along nicely. I’m also writing my inspirational thought book.

– Part of our business model is to increase our reputation as book reviewers and so my goal of leapfrogging the Amazon Rankings was a no-brainer. Over the past five months, I’ve worked hard to climb the Amazon Rankings. I’m thrilled with the results. As a happy bonus, we’re also climbing the Goodreads Rankings. My goal is within reach and I couldn’t be more proud.

– I’ve been writing inspirational thoughts on this blog for several years and it’s time to publish it. I’m collecting and organizing the thoughts and I’m hopeful for a September release.

So, here’s the big question for you to think over today:

How’s your yearly goals coming along? Have you already reached it or are barely started?

It’s all good, either way. If you’ve already reached your yearly goals, create new ones. The journey to success, like the quote says above, is to constantly create greater goals. It stretches you as a person and you’ll be amazed by the results.

If you haven’t started on your goals yet, it’s not to late to get going. It’s only May and you’ve got seven months to go. Look over your goals and recommit yourself.

The secret to success is easier than you think. By challenging yourself with greater goals, you’re on your way to immense success. I never thought I’d be where I am today but by goal-setting and persevering, I’m successful. If I can do it, so can you!

Victory is Almost at Hand so Keep Going! #inspiration #MondayBlogs #quote

Lombardi Quote

Are you exhausted and want to just give up?

When you work your tail off on something, victory is at hand.  Nothing is clearer in my eyes than publishing stories.  Every word, every character, every emotional response the reader witnesses comes from deep within me.  It is my blood, sweat and tears splashed across the pages.  All my hopes, fears and dreams are there among the characters.

What are you working hard at?  Do you feel like giving up or quitting?  DON’T!  Your finest hour is at hand!

You will wear the ring of victory and you will rejoice!

Plans Change But Goals are Forever… #inspiration #motivation #goals

We’re nearing the end of the 2016 and my thoughts turn to goals. I peeked at the goals I made back in January and for the most part, I’m fairly successful. Here’s my goals for 2016:

  • Build our author promotions business and gain twice as many clients as we had in 2015.
  • Love each other more than we did in 2015
  • Eat more chocolate
  • Pay down our consumer debt by increasing our payments
  • Donate more to our local food bank than we did in 2015
  • Have fun and enjoy each and every day

One other goal I had was to move up in Amazon Reviewer Rankings. I started the year over 200,000 and am proud to say I’ve moved up to just above 22,000. Sure, my original goal was to make it to being a top 1000 reviewer for Amazon.

Do I feel like a failure? No way! I just had to adjust my plan.

My goal is still the same: get to be a top 1000 reviewer on Amazon; my path getting there may take awhile longer than expected.

Has your plan to reaching your goal(s) taken a u-turn?

Don’t get discouraged. You might just have to change your plan and approach your goal(s) from a different angle. Change the plan, not the goal.

Time Management: Manage Your Time or it Will Manage You! #timemanagement #inspiration

Time Management

Are you managing your time or is it managing you?

Time management is something each of us struggles with.  We have a never-ending list of things to do and places to go.

This week, I have a lot to do and not enough hours in the day to complete them. How am I not running around screaming like Chicken Little? I manage my time.

Read the above quote.

I take full advantage of each and every minute of my day.  I have a list of things to do and I stick to it.  When there is a little lag time, I try to incorporate two things at once.

Need help with managing your time?

Get a daily planner, write down what you need to accomplish in the day and as you complete each task check it off. You will feel so much better than running yourself ragged.

Manage your time or it will manage you!

What’s Your BHAG? #goals #inspiration #motivation

What’s your BHAG?

I bet you’re scratching your head, thinking I’ve joined some weird gang or something.

BHAG = Big Hairy Audacious Goal

I ran across this acronym while reading my fellow blogger, Joanne Sisco, latest blog post yesterday.

What’s my BHAG? Do I even have one?

When I do goal-setting for myself I usually create several small goals I want to meet over the course of a year. But it’s been a long time since I set a big goal for myself. In fact, the last one was when I was fifteen years old.

My BHAG was to be a published author. I achieved this more than two decades later. It was definitely a BHAG.

I thought about it for a second and then it hit me. I knew what my BHAG was going to be but then I hesitated. Could I share it with my followers? Would they think less of me? Was it even worth talking about? Insecurity wracked my brain.

Later yesterday afternoon, I got a response from Joanne. She wanted to know more. So, I made the decision to expose myself and share my BHAG.

My Big Hairy Audacious Goal is to be a Top 100 Amazon Reviewer.

I’m working hard to establish myself as a professional book reviewer under my pen name, N. N. Light. I have a reputation of being an honest, insightful reviewer and my goal is to be an Amazon Top 100 Reviewer.

What about you? What’s your BHAG?

Setting seemingly impossible goals allows us the step outside our comfort zone and reach for the stars. Like the quote above, to keep moving forward in life, we have to constantly make greater goals for ourselves. The impossible turns possible with a leap of faith.

I’m going for it… are you?

2016: It’s a Brand New Year! #inspiration #resolutions #MondayBlogs

happy new year

Happy New Year, everyone! I’m back from vacation and ready to tackle 2016.

Every new year, millions of people around the world make resolutions.

Do you?

I used to make impossible resolutions and by March, I’d given up on them. I felt horrible about myself, calling myself a failure. Truth is, I wasn’t the failure; the resolutions were.

So now, I create yearly goals for myself. I make sure they are possible to achieve. This year, MR N and I have the following goals for 2016:

  • Build our author promotions business and gain twice as many clients as we had in 2015.
  • Love each other more than we did in 2015
  • Eat more chocolate
  • Pay down our consumer debt by increasing our payments
  • Donate more to our local food bank than we did in 2015
  • Have fun and enjoy each and every day

Goals don’t have to be serious, as you can see from the chocolate one. lol!

What are your goals for the year? If you’d like to share in the comments below, I’d love to hear them.

2016 is going to be a great year! We (MR N and I) hope your 2016 is filled with new experiences, love, laughter and may your dreams become reality. Dreams really do come true… we’re proof of that. 😀

How do I find success?

It’s nearing the end of 2015 and many people (including me) are looking for success. We all want to feel a sense of accomplishment for all of our hard work this year.

Each of us determines what it means to be successful. I have several author friends and when I ask them if they’ve been successful this year, I get different answers. For some, being successful is making it onto the best-seller list. For others, it’s the amount of sales and/or awards won. For many, it’s name recognition.

This year has been a very successful year for me. I wrote and published a romance novella, garnering rave reviews. I started a new business and become an entrepreneur. I’ve made new friends and let go of some others. I grew a year older but am in the best shape of my life. I donated more to the food bank than I ever have before. I’m living my dream life and can’t wait to see what 2016 brings.

How did 2015 become so successful for me?

Look at the graphic above. Every single thing around the word success I did in 2015. By themselves, they don’t seem like a big deal but when I combine them into my daily life, success is the result.

Success is a natural by-product of the following:

Lead By Example

Team Work

Incorporate them into your life and you’ll soon be successful!!!

Are You Unstoppable? #inspiration #motivation #affirmations

be unstoppable

Are you unstoppable?

When I was little, I was told that I could do anything, the world was my oyster, etc. As a ten year old, I was filled with big dreams and aspirations.

When I became an adult and entered the “real world”, my dreams were replaced by working hard and making money. I shoved my dreams in the back of the closet and was, in fact, miserable.

It wasn’t until I started this blog did my dreams come back to the forefront of my mind. Through hard work and persistence, I made my dream come true of being a published author.

I’m unstoppable.

Don’t bury your dreams or replace your aspirations with reality. Your dreams can be your reality. You have the capability of being anything, just like when you were young.

Are you ready?

Write down your dreams and remember to dream big. Every day (or several times a day), meditate over your dreams and create a plan to make them reality. Then do it!

Let this be your daily meditation:

I choose to be unstoppable. I am bigger than my concerns and worries. The strength of others inspires me daily. I focus on my goal. I trust my intuition and live a courageous life.

Look at you; you’re unstoppable!!

Goals are the Road Map to Your Dream Life #inspiration #motivation #goals

What are your goals in life?

Many of us make goals/resolutions at the beginning of the year.

How’s that going for you?

For me, it’s going pretty good. I just published my second book in two years. I’m healthier now than when I was at the start of the year. I launched a small business and am happy.

Setting goals is a great way to make your dreams come true. It’s not too late to start a new goal.

Today, write down 1-5 goals you’d like to achieve. They can be short-term or long-term. Keep this handy so you can look at it many times a day.

Your goals are the road maps that guide you and show you what is possible for your life.

I Dream. Do you? #inspiration #motivation #selfimprovement

Dreams WD

I love this quote by Walt Disney!

Dreams are the first step to living your Utopian life.

What are your dreams?

I’m reading this excellent self-help book titled, Just Ask the Universe by Michael Samuels (review coming in September), and I’m in the midst of creating my “I Want” list. It’s basically listing your dreams in a pro-active way. Brilliant!

Dreams on paper. What a concept. It’s a great way to visualize your dreams and be an active participant in the process of living your dream life.

So today’s assignment is simple. Take out a sheet of paper and write at the top of the page “I Want”. Then take as long as you need to and write down everything that comes to mind. Be very specific. Don’t say, “I want a new house”. Instead describe your dream house in detail.

Then watch your dreams come true. Sure, you have to work hard but that’s part of the fun.

Dare to dream and then watch miracles happen!

I dream. I test my dreams against my beliefs. I dare to take risks and I execute my vision to make those dreams come true.

Don’t Ever Be Afraid to Dream Too Big #inspiration #motivation #goals

setting goals

Are your dreams too big?

Mine aren’t.

I learned a long time ago that I can do anything and be anyone, no matter what the critics say.

Did I ever think I was going to be happily married, a published author and wake up every day excited to see what happens?

Growing up, I thought I was probably going to end up alone, unhappy and miserable.

When I turned thirty, I was still single and working in a bookstore. I decided to make changes and the first thing I did was create a list of goals (both short and long-term). I told myself that anything was possible. They included:

Meet future husband and get married

Write a book

Get published

Wake up every morning happy

Looking back on the list, I’m impressed that I have completed all my goals. So, it’s time for a new list of goals.

I’m dreaming HUGE and you should too!

Nothing is impossible. If you believe in yourself, you can achieve it.

#MondayMotivation: Living Your Dreams #inspiration #MondayBlogs

Live your dreams

What are you doing to make your dreams come true?

I used to think that if I just did nothing but pray, my dreams would come true. I learned the hard way that in order to make your dreams come true, you have to be an active participant.

What do I mean?

Let’s say you want to move into a home that has a store-front attached (like my friend Nick). It’s something that you have always dreamt of. You work hard, raise a family and then one day you spot it. It’s the perfect place and your heart aches with want.

What do you do?

My friend, Nate, worked hard on selling his current house. He renovated and even switched real estate agents. When it looked bleak, an offer came in on his current house. He jumped up and down excitedly. He then put in an offer on his dream house. Last night, it was accepted.

You have to be an active participant in your dreams in order for them to come true.

How do you do it?

Write down your dreams.

Create a plan on how you want to achieve your dreams.

Work hard.

Believe in your dreams.

When it seems all is lost, hold tight onto your faith.

Watch out, for your dreams are about to come true.

Are you living your dreams? What are you doing to make your dreams come true? Share in the comments below!

Are Your Dreams High Enough? #inspiration #goals #motivation

Dream High

Are your dreams high enough?

Make sure your dreams are high enough.” I can still hear my grandfather’s voice in my head.

So many times, we don’t reach for the stars. We settle for reaching for the remote. Okay, all joking aside, when we dream (or set goals), we need to make them seem unattainable. Why? So we can push ourselves harder than ever before.

I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be a successful published author, book promoter and entrepreneur. Sure, my dream was to publish a book and become an author. But I never thought I would launch a business while still writing. It’s mind-blowing!

My grandfather knew I could do it and pushed me to keep following my dreams. Thanks Bumps. 🙂

Are your dreams high enough or are they low?

The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.

Aim high!!!

🙂 MRS N 🙂

Are you pursuing your dreams or just dreaming?

When I was young and single, I made a list of everything I wanted to accomplish before I die. It was my own bucket list (before it became popular) and I promised myself I would make it happen. Here are a few items on the list:

Marry the man I’m meant to be with

Become a published author

Never settle

Help others less fortunate

Once I had written down my dreams, I started to plan how I was going to accomplish them. I wasn’t going to be like other people I knew wishing and hoping for my dreams to come true. I was going to make it happen!

Life is short, too short to be passive and wait for something to happen. Clutch your dreams to your chest and go after them! No regrets!

I’d rather look back on my life and say, “I can’t believe I did that” instead of saying “I wish I did that”.

Are you living the life you’ve dreamt of? What goals/dreams have you pursued? Please share below. 🙂

Are You Surrounded by the Right People? #inspiration #motivation #affirmations

Do you surround yourself with the right people? I’m not talking about people with money, power and/or influence. Are you surrounding yourself with people who inspire and encourage you to be who you are?

I used to think that I needed to be friends with people who could help me achieve my goals. I also surrounded myself with people I knew were bad for me but they had been my friends forever. Both of these groups of friends were damaging to my self-esteem and my identity.

My thinking changed when I was put into a dangerous situation. Suddenly, life took on a whole new perspective and the people I thought were my friends scattered like dandelion fluff like the wind. I was alone. I looked deep inside and made the decision to change who my friends were.

Once I surrounded myself with friends who loved me for me, I began to grow and my self-esteem increased. These friends were there for me and motivated me to chase after my dreams including writing my first novel. They inspired me to start this blog and they continue to encourage me to reach for the stars.

How about you? Are your friends motivating, inspiring and encouraging you to be the very best you can be? If not, maybe you need to surround yourself with people who do.

In your day, surround yourself with people who love you, motivate you, encourage you and just make you feel good about being… you!

Are you making time for what matters?

Our days are filled with people and projects pulling us in all directions. Time management is more important than ever. My question above get to the crux of the issue. Work is important and deadlines need to be met. But are you sacrificing something else in the process?

When I am scheduling my day, I make sure to leave evenings free. Why? This is the time I spend with MR N. Come 5:30 pm, my priority is relaxing and spending quality time with him. Not only is it healthy for my stress level but it solidifies our relationship.

Today, make a list of five ways to incorporate what matters into your schedule. It could be spending time with your significant other, children, best friend, sibling, family, etc. It could be spending quality time by yourself. No matter what it may be, make time for it.

When you make time for what matters, you create balance in your mind, body and soul.
