There’s Only One Way to #Happiness and This is it! #inspiration #motivation #MondayBlogs

Are you embracing what life has to offer or are constantly worrying about what’s being thrown your way?

I used to be a worrywart. I used to fret and let my anxiety get the better of me. I used to worry what will happen next and how else can my life suck. Honestly, I was so unhappy because I was sucking the happiness right out of me.

Happiness is not as elusive as you might think. True happiness is not measured by how much money you make or how many cars you own. Happiness is a mindset and it’s different for each person. What makes me happy will not necessarily make you happy. Let me give you an example.

This past weekend, MR N and I went on a shopping spree. We shopped for clothes, books, music, movies, beauty (bubble bath, anyone?), housewares and more. In the afternoon, we went to the liquor store. For the next hour, we went up and down the aisles picking up wine, liquor (bourbon) and more. I’m a big wine drinker and I loved looking at each bottle then putting the ones I wanted in the cart. I got eight different varieties of wine and one bottle of Jim Beam Honey (yum). I was giddy with happiness and joy.

That’s an example of happiness. The experience of being able to take my time, pick out new varieties and grinning from ear to ear took away the stressors of life and allowed happiness to course in my veins. It’s not the items I bought but the journey that created the happiness.

Let happiness flow in your veins! Stop worrying about stuff you have no control over. Find something you enjoy and let the rest of the world fall away.

Make Your Happiness a Priority! #inspiration #TuesdayThoughts #happiness

Did you know that your happiness is necessary to living a successful, fruitful life?

It’s true!

For many of us, we were brought up to take care of others and ignore our own needs. While I’m sure our parents meant well, it’s bad advice. When we’re taking care of everyone else and not ourselves, resentment starts to fester in our hearts. We get angry at others for not taking care of us and this starts a vicious passive-aggressive cycle.

Life is a balance of taking care of ourselves and others. I’ve learned over the years that it’s much better to speak openly about my happiness rather than keep it quiet. MR N encourages me to speak my mind, even when it is something he doesn’t want to hear. Truthfulness, when spoken in love, is always better than a lie. I take care of myself and we’re stronger as a couple because of it.

Like the quote above states, it’s perfectly amicable to love and take care of yourself. Your happiness deserves priority in your life. If you’re unhappy, do something about it. Take care of yourself in every way you can. You’ll thank me in the future, I promise.

How do you take care of yourself? Answer in the comments below.

Forget Searching for Happiness… It’s Within You! #inspiration #grateful #ThursdayThoughts

happiness have

Are you searching externally for happiness?

Psst, happiness is found within through the simple act of gratitude.

I’ve been told by several people throughout the years that happiness is a journey and you’ll be happy when you do ___________ (fill in the blank). Whether it’s finding the right man/woman, marriage, children, house, career, income threshold, I’ll be successful once I do it. I took their advice and was very unhappy. I could’ve saved myself a lot of trouble if I had taken the following to heart:

“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.”

It’s sound advice and a lesson I learned recently. Happiness comes from within and by being grateful for everything (even the bad stuff), peace and contentment flow in my veins. I’m most happy when I’m sitting out on the solarium with my beloved Mr. N, holding hands while watching the trees and birds.

Find your happy place, no matter where it is, and visit it daily. Meditate/Pray over various parts of your life and be grateful. Appreciate everything/everyone in your life and recognize you are truly blessed. Happiness will bloom inside you. I know it sounds corny but it’s true. The simple act of gratitude brings happiness to the forefront of your mind.

Happiness doesn’t come from some adventure (like in Lord of the Rings) but it comes from reminding ourselves what we have already in our lives.

Out of Clutter, Find Simplicity #inspiration #motivation #WednesdayWisdom

clutter simplicity

Summer has arrived and while some of us are on vacation (16 days until we go on vacation), many of us are dealing with an overloaded workload. The kids are out of school and looking for stuff to do. Friends want to get together and all you want to do is go to the beach.

When my life gets cluttered, I seek the simple things. Soothing music, an absorbing book,  fresh flower bouquets my husband brings home, good food, a few cocktails and snuggling with Mr. N are just a few of my summertime pleasures.  While they may not seem exciting or thrilling, they bring me peace and happiness.

Life can get chaotic, especially during the Summer. Find joy in the little things and you’ll be at peace.

Here’s the Secret to a Successful and Happy Life #inspiration #motivation #WednesdayWisdom

life is too short

What’s the key to a successful and happy life?

Every person I know (me included) craves a happy life, rich in success and achievement. We want to leave a legacy, experience all that life has to offer and to be loved. It sounds simple enough but it’s anything but. Obstacles and opinions impede us from our goals and dreams. So, how do we attain success? Follow this wise advice:

Life is too short to worry about stupid stuff. Have fun. Fall in love. Regret nothing, and don’t let people bring you down.

Stop sweating the small stuff, as a wise author once wrote. Focus on having fun and reaching your goals. Love others and be loved in return. Chuck regrets out the window and say good-bye to negative and toxic people.

If you adjust your perspective to these tenants, you’re bound to be successful and much more happier. It starts and ends with you. So, get going! Life is waiting for you.

Eeyore’s Conclusion: Life is Good! #inspiration #Friday #advice

Friday Eeyore quote

What makes you happy?

Here are some things that make me happy:

A kiss from my husband in the morning.

The sun shining.

Seeing wildlife while taking my morning walk.

Watching Winnie the Pooh.

I grew up on the famous A.A. Milne series.  Every time I read or watch Winnie the Pooh (and his many friends), a smile spreads across my face.  It brings me back to a simpler time, my childhood.  I smile to myself and everything seems right with my world.

I love the above quote.  Eeyore says life is good, especially today because it’s Friday.  For those of you who are not familiar, Eeyore is a somber character.  He has troubles keeping his tail on, his house standing and many other things that bring him down.  His voice is low and sad.

But every once in awhile, he finds a balloon or a field of dandelions and is happy.  He doesn’t jump up and down.  He doesn’t scream excitedly.  He slightly smiles to himself and revels in it.

We could learn a lot from Eeyore.  Life can throw a lot at us.  It can be easy to be down and out.  But we have to remember to find what makes us happy and enjoy.

Find what makes you happy and hold onto it, even in the tough times.

Today is #InternationalDayofHappiness and #Happiness is Within Your Grasp #MondayBlogs

true happiness

Happy International Day of Happiness! Today, we’re talking about one of my favorite topics: happiness.

Are you happy? Do you spread happiness and joy wherever you go?

I know, I know, most of us are tired of the whole “Pollyanna Syndrome”, especially when we’re going through a hard time. Trust me, I understand. What I’m talking about is true happiness, not fake happiness. Let me give you an example:

Back in February, I went from being happy to anxious in a matter of moments. Suddenly, my peace went out the window and I was spiraling downwards. I started having anxiety attacks and worrying about “stuff”. What were we going to do? How are we going to make it through?

MR N, meanwhile, had no worries and continued to be happy. He knew in his heart that everything was going to turn out better than we could imagine. “Have faith, my love,” he said. “Be happy and trust in the Lord.”

BOOM! I was in the midst of a spiritual crossroads. Did I have faith? Did I trust in God to provide for us and if so, then why wasn’t I happy?

True happiness, is a journey, not a destination.

Last week, our prayers were answered and everything is taken care of. I got on my knees and thanked God. I felt shame for not having faith and while I was wallowing in my pity, a realization hit: I chose not to stay on the path of happiness but to veer off-course to a thorny trail of misery and despair.

So, on this day and every day, embrace your path of happiness and have faith. Learn from my mistakes and be the embodiment of true happiness. Be grateful for what you have and who you are. Don’t be fake; be happy.

#ThursdayThoughts: Words to Live By and Incorporate into Your Life #inspiration

word to live by

Looking for the secret to a happy, healthy, fulfilled life?

Incorporate these attributes into your life and I can guarantee you’re well on your way.

Listen, you may know someone who appears to have everything going for them, the perfect life, so to speak. And who knows, they might be happy. But unless they have some sort of balance in their life, they probably aren’t happy.

The quote above is on my wall calendar that my dear friend gave me for Christmas. I look at it several times a day and it’s a reminder that life is more than busting my butt. If I didn’t have love, didn’t work hard, didn’t give freely, then none of it matters. It’s all about balance.

So, today’s inspirational thought is all about balance.

Think deeply,

Speak gently,

Love much,

Laugh a lot,

Work hard,

Give freely,

and be kind.

There’s One Way to Happiness and It’s Easier Than You Think #ThursdayThoughts

Did you know that worrying suffocates happiness from your life?

I’m worried about something and like usual, it’s keeping me from enjoying life. I try not to worry about it and for the most part, it doesn’t bother me. But last night, worry took over. MR N asked me what was going on and I made a joke of it. This was his response:

“It’s already taken care of. Done. Finito. Stop worrying and be happy, my love.”

I finally had to give myself a shake. If MR N wasn’t worried then I won’t be either. I woke up this morning happier and feeling almost 100%.

Life throws us curve balls and in order to be happy, we have to stop worrying!

Do like MR N says and realize it’s already taken care of. It’s out of our hands so we might as well let happiness reign.

Are You Taking the Time to Love Yourself? It’s Necessary! #inspiration #love

Do you take the time to love yourself or do you deny yourself because you think it’s selfish?

Growing up, my family taught me it was selfish to take care of myself, to love myself. What was I doing, they’d ask. You’re a woman and your responsibility as a caregiver is to push aside your own needs for others. So, that’s what I did. I was so busy taking care of others that I neglected myself.

Truth be told, I was miserable. I look back at that insecure Miss N and wonder how I survived. I was completely unhappy and it wasn’t until I started loving myself and allowing myself to be happy that I became content.

Do you feel the same way?

Last year was a tough year for me physically. My body is changing and had some health scares. The more my body hurt, the worse I felt. It became a vicious cycle and I’m determined to not let that happen in 2017.

One of my resolutions for 2017 is to be gentle to my body and pamper myself. I’m loving my body and taking care of it. Baths, lotions, you name it, I’m all set. 🙂

How about you? Are you taking care of yourself and loving yourself?

The honest truth is that you need to love yourself before you can love others. Self-love is not selfish but as important as breathing. When you love yourself, others are attracted to that love and love you back.

It’s not too late to make a new resolution. Love and take care of yourself. Your body is a temple and when you take care of it, it takes care of you. Nurture your soul, do what brings you joy, spread love and happiness will flow from your pores.

Be Happy! It’s Easier Than You Think #inspiration #TuesdayMotivation

be happy

Want to know the secret to living a happy life?

Be yourself.

You are original, beautiful and there’s no one else like you in the world.

This was a life lesson that took me a long time to figure out. I used to chase after my ideal life and when it didn’t work out, I was crushed. It didn’t help that I was trying to please others. It wasn’t until I was at my lowest that I realized happiness wasn’t going to be found in people, places or things.

Happiness is a choice.

Choose to be happy. Choose to be yourself and if others don’t like it, too bad.

Are you ready to start living a happy life?

Me too! 🙂

When Was the Last Time You Took Time Out to Relax? #inspiration #relax #TuesdayMotivation

time management

When was the last time you took time out to relax?

If it was longer than 24 hours, you’re not taking care of yourself.

The past few weeks I’ve been feeling exhausted. We had a stressful work week last week, yesterday was definitely Manic Monday  and I was stressed out! After MR N came home, I took some time to relax. My body and soul needed it.

What did we do to relax?

After dinner, MR N and I listened to three new Christmas CDs we bought. We turned on our Christmas lights, sat together on the loveseat and held hands. It was exactly what we needed.

But MRS N, you may be asking, I don’t have time to relax.

Make time for what matters. It’s not complicated. Even a few minutes a day helps immensely.

Today I am thankful for relaxation.

What do you do to relax? Tell me in the comments below.

Magnify Blessings More Than Disappointments #inspiration #grateful

Today, let’s magnify our blessings twice as much as we magnify our disappointments.

Be the Embodiment of True Happiness #inspiration #ThursdayThoughts #motivation

true happiness

What is true happiness?

I think it’s different for each person but the essence is the same: be in the moment. One of my mantras is the seize the day and cherish every moment.

I used to pine for the future, thinking that happiness was just out of my reach. It wasn’t until I started living in the moment did happiness flood my soul.

True happiness is… is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future.

🙂 MRS N 🙂

Are You Hunting For Happiness? Stop and Enjoy Life #inspiration #motivation

be happy

I saw this graphic this morning and it gave me pause.

Am I so focused hunting for happiness that I’m not enjoying life right now?

It’s an interesting question.

I remember when I was in university and all I thought about was making it through so I could finally live my life. I didn’t have time to sit back and enjoy the moment.

I see a lot of my friends and family on the hunt for happiness but not a lot of enjoyment going on.

I’ve got to work 80 hours a week so I can get this promotion. Then I can enjoy life.

Once the kids are grown up and graduate, then I can enjoy life.

I’ve got to graduate high school and then I can enjoy life.

Sound familiar?

It rings true for me.

Now and then (like today) it’s good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy.

Take today and live in the moment. Savor every minute of the day and just be happy!

When Was the Last Time You Smiled at Life? #inspiration #affirmations #keepsmiling

smiling face

Happy Tuesday everyone! Boy, it’s been a long week month and I keep hearing a song in my head. Remember that childhood song, “Put on a Happy Face”? I think it came out in the late 70’s. Anyway, it’s rolling around my head.

Have you ever woken up and wanted to go back to bed?

I sure have.

What do you do? Do you stay in bed or do you get up, facing the day head-on?

I get up and face the day. I may be exhausted but I have just enough energy to smile. 🙂 You know, it takes twice as many muscles to frown than to smile.

Read the quote above. I dare you not to smile while looking at those bright yellow happy faces. Go on, stare at it and smile.

Oooh, I see that! You can’t hide that lovely smile from me. 😀

No matter what happens today, smile! Be like the yellow happy face and smile at life!

Life is a Roller Coaster… #inspiration #happiness #affirmations

true happiness

Are you seeking true happiness?

Life is a roller coaster and we’re along for the ride. We climb up, fall down, do the loop de loop and screech to a stop. We never know what is coming around the corner. It’s easy to get depressed and cynical.

I’m here to tell you the key to living a happy life is to be in the moment and enjoy whatever you’re going through. It may suck or it be fantastic. Choose to be happy and the world is your oasis! 🙂

I’m basking in the present and curling my toes in the soil!

True happiness is… to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future.

Live Life With Pure Joy! #inspiration #motivational #birthdays

Di Pure Joy

The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. ~Christopher McCandless

Have you experienced pure joy?

The woman in the picture above is my wild and crazy Aunt. She just turned 60 and for her birthday, she got to ride in a fire truck and interact with her local fire station. This picture captures her pure joy moment.

My aunt is amazing and is the embodiment of living a joyful life. She worked full-time, raised two children, changed careers and married her soulmate in the early 90’s. She followed her heart and didn’t conform to what people expected of her. Even from an early age, she taught me one valuable lesson:

“Life is too short to not have a great time, sweetie. Tomorrow, it may be too late so go for it and stop caring what people think.”

It took me a long time to learn this lesson. But I get it now. Living a life of pure joy moments is the key to being happy. Sure, these moments will be accompanied by struggles and low moments. But hopefully there will be more pure joy moments than low moments.

When was the last time you experienced a pure joy moment?

Think about it and then do whatever you can to live a life filled with pure joy.

Thank you, Auntie, for being an inspiration to me! Cheers to living life to the fullest!

Are You Chasing Happiness? Think Like a Butterfly #inspiration #affirmation #happiness

Happiness butterfly

Is your heart filled with happiness or are you chasing after it?

I love this quote and it’s totally true!  When you chase after happiness (or try too hard to be happy), it flies out of your reach like a butterfly.  But if you make the conscious decision to be happy in everything, happiness will surround you.

Is it really that easy?

I wake up every morning thinking to myself how no matter what happens today, I choose to be happy.  It’s your choice to react to what happens to you.  You’re responsible for your emotions and your actions, not someone else.

So choose to be happy and see what a difference it makes!  Don’t look now but there’s a butterfly on your shoulder! 🙂

MRS N, Blissfully Happy

Want to be Happy? Embody Gratitude #inspiration #friendship #gratitude

happiness equals gratitude

Gratitude = Happiness

It’s that simple. Be grateful for what you have and happiness will surround you!

This morning, I got some terrible news. A dear friend of ours passed away. While both MR N and I are filled with sadness, we’re so grateful to have known our friend. We shared a love of baseball and we will never forget him. He made our lives better, just by being in it. Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude.

What are you grateful for?

I’m grateful for each one of you! 🙂

Fill Your Life With Happiness #inspiration #happiness

Are you filled with happiness?

Happiness is something that every person yearns for.  No matter who they are or where they live in the world, everyone wants to be happy.  It transcends all barriers.  It doesn’t cost any money and yet is worth more money than the world banks hold.

I’ll let you in on a little secret.  Your life can be filled with happiness.  All it takes is a little planning. Write down everything that makes you happy. Every morning, as you’re getting ready for your day, read your happiness list and meditate over it. It’s as simple as that.

Happiness is one of the greatest life lessons there is.  When you are living your version of a happy life, you will be blessed and will be shining the Light within you!

Weave happiness throughout the tapestry of your life and be happy!

Celebrate Life’s Big Moments (Both Good and Bad) #inspiration #motivation

celebrate life

When a big moment happens in your life, do you celebrate it?

We do and let me tell you why.  Life is filled with big moments, both good and bad, and if you take notice and celebrate, you will feel gratitude.  Take notice of what I just said.  Celebrate both the good and bad.

Less than four weeks ago, I had a bad big moment when MR N was struck with an outbreak of canker sores. He couldn’t eat without excruciating pain.   I went from my normal life to being scared to death. I prayed like I have never prayed before.

Please Lord, let it not be the C word. Please Lord, heal him. I’m begging you.

Today, MR N is healthy and the canker sores are gone. I look back on that this morning and I thank God for getting us through such a low time.

Celebrate all life’s moments!!!  It is the key to living a happy life and you will be filled with such gratitude! 🙂

What are Your Priorities? #inspiration #motivation #affirmations

What are your priorities?

When I was younger, my priority in life was to marry rich, have a successful career making as much money as I could, raise a few kids and retire to some island off the coast of Italy.

The reality was harsher than I want to admit. The more money I made, the emptier my life appeared. There wasn’t any substance to my life and I realized I needed to shift my priorities.

What you choose to focus your mind on is critical because you will become what you think about most of the time.

My priorities now include helping those less fortunate, being kind to everyone and being thankful for all the blessings in my life. I work hard, relax with MR N as much as possible and enjoy life. I’m happy, healthy and my heart is full.

What are your priorities? What are you focusing on? Focus your mind on those priorities and you’ll be surprised by the outcome.

🙂 MRS N 🙂
