Make a #Gratitude List and Pray/Meditate Over It Daily! #inspiration #motivation #grateful

Want to live a fulfilled life? Make a gratitude list.

Years ago, I attended a Christian event and the guest speaker (I can’t remember his name, sorry) brought up the idea of a gratitude list. He said in order to live a happy, spiritual life, one must be grateful for everything, even the bad stuff. He went on to say that when our focus is on the blessings, we don’t focus on what we don’t have. What a brilliant concept and something I’ve tried to incorporate into my life.

So, with Thanksgiving only two days away, I want you to sit down and make a gratitude list. It can be as long or short as you’d like. Keep it somewhere handy where you can look at it at least once a day. Read it aloud or to yourself. Commit it to memory if possible.

Need an example to get you rolling? Here is my current gratitude list:

I’m grateful to be alive and have a healthy body.

I’m grateful to have the love of my life, MR N, to share all of life’s ups and downs. No matter what happens, he’s my rock and I’m so grateful for his unconditional love.

I’m grateful for the love of my family and friends. They’re the flowers of life and make my day beautiful (most of the time). lol!

I’m grateful for my spiritual life. I feel connected to the world and God.

I’m grateful for my blog/books/social media followers. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I’m grateful to live in a safe neighborhood where I can walk to the store, bank and dining out.

I’m grateful to share my writing with the world.

What’s on your gratitude list? Share one thing on your gratitude list below.

Find Your Inner Joy at a Dark Moment and It Will Burn Out the Pain! #inspiration #motivation

What’s your inner joy memory/thought/idea/place?

When life throws you down a dark vortex where you can’t see what’s in front of you, where you have no idea what to do next, how do you make it through? I focus on my inner joy. It can be a happy memory, a future event that you’re really excited about, a thought you can meditate or a place to go to.

Last October, we started planning our Summer vacation. Last year’s vacation was a nightmare and we were more stressed out when we came back than when we left. We discussed it and decided to go all out for our 2017 vacation. We scrimped and saved everything we could to make it happen. We endured hardships and there were a few times when I doubted we could make it. But here we are, one day and hours from our dream vacation.

How did I deal with the stress and anxiety?

Simple. I thought about our suite at the resort we’ll be staying at, with its skylight over our bed, the fireplace nook and the exquisite food at the restaurant on-site. This thought, this idea, this place was my inner joy, my secret sanctuary, and it got me through anything that came my way.

What’s your secret sanctuary?

Whenever you’re in the midst of stress, anxiety or whatever dark cavern you may be stuck in, concentrate on your inner joy and like the quote says, the joy will purge the pain and strife.

Are You Taking Time for Solitude? #inspiration #TuesdayThoughts #stress

summer vakay solitude

Are you taking time away from work, family and obligations?

We’re all living very busy lives. We have things/people/activities clamoring for our attention. Whether it’s our phone ringing off the hook, text messages pining our device or our boss emailing in the middle of the night, it’s hard to escape it all. We feel strung out and exhausted.

Find some solitude.

“What? Is she crazy?” I know you’re thinking this but hear me out.

Turn off your device and take some time away to rest, rejuvenate and recenter yourself.

I co-run (with MR N) a business from home and it would be easy for me to work around the clock. I mean, I have clients from all over the world and they email me 24/7. I know that if I did that, I would be a stress monster and no one wants to see that. Instead, I work from 6:30 am until 5:30 pm. I clock in and out like a day job. I take a 30 minute lunch and have a few breaks during the day.

Why do I do this? I need time away to spend quality time with my husband (Mr. N) and to rest.

Life is in constant motion, like the ocean, filled with low and high tides. Even the ocean rests (low tide). Seek solitude, even if it is for a few minutes a day. You’ll be more productive and less stressed.

Where do you seek solitude in your day? Share in the box below.

#ThursdayThoughts: In Stillness, We Find Our Peace #inspiration #meditation #prayer

Are you at peace?

Being still and at peace is something I struggle with daily. My brain is constantly firing thoughts, ideas and criticisms. It’s hard for me to shut it off and quite frankly, it’s exhausting. So, when I saw this quote, it gave me pause.

When we are still, peace comes to us.

I find peace through meditation/prayer. I concentrate on my breathing and words of gratitude flow from my mouth.

Why is stillness important?

No one is the Tasmanian Devil. We can’t keep whirling around nonstop without consequences. We get tired, exhausted even, and need time to refuel/rest/replenish ourselves. Stillness through meditation/prayer allows our mind/body/soul to be refilled.

Today, take time to be still and peace will find you. Now repeat after me,

“I am grateful for…”

Stressed and in a Hurry? Take Five Deep Breaths … #inspiration #motivation #stress

Feeling stressed today?

Me, too!

We’re all busy and stress is building up inside. Our stomachs clench, our skin is clammy and anxious thoughts run rampant.

Take five deep breaths right now. Empty your mind of all those thoughts and concentrate on your breathing. Imagine that stress washing off your body with each breath.

Now, repeat after me: I’m in control of myself and my feelings. Today is Friday and I’ve got this. I’m going to kick butt!

#1 stress reliever for me is the activity I’ve just described. It centers me and allows me to deal with any kind of stress.

Happy Friday, all!

The best things in life are free.

One of my favorite things to do is snuggle with MR N on our love seat holding hands. It doesn’t cost a thing and it releases stress, infuses my body with a calm and makes me happy.

What do you love to do that doesn’t cost a thing?

Whatever it is, do it today!

Like the graphic above says, share if you agree. 🙂

When You Think Things are Bad…You’re Really Quite Lucky! #inspiration #motivation

Inspiring DR S

Are you dealing with a lot right now and feel like giving up?

I know it sounds like a fairy tale but even in the midst of all that you’re dealing with, you’re lucky. Now, now, give me a second to explain.

Do you have a roof over your head? Food to eat? You’re breathing, right? Clothing to wear?

There are millions of people around the world (and in your own backyard) who don’t have those basic comforts. They’re homeless, starving, dead or even wearing the same clothes for a month. It’s an eye-opening revelation, isn’t it?

This past week has been crazy for both MR N and myself. Work is overworking us and we’re exhausted. Our life is overflowing with things to do and places to go. It’s the busy time of the year and at one point, I broke down and cried.

MR N pulled me into his arms and whispered to me, “Darling, this is what success feels like.”

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be successful, have enough money not to worry how I’m going to pay the bills or even eat, be proud of the work I’m doing, loved by a man who adores me and enjoy a nice glass of wine at the end of the day. I’m truly blessed as I have all those things and more.

So, I’ve switched my perspective from “woe is me” to “gosh, I’m lucky”. Taking Dr. Seuss’ advice is as easy as breathing.

“So tell yourself, Ducky, you’re really quite lucky!”

Anxious? Worried? Take My Advice and Breathe #inspiration #motivation #meditation

breathe universe

There’s a lot of worrying and anxiety swirling around me.

I have many friends dealing with life’s ups and downs. One of my friends came up to me last week crying in her hands.

“I can’t handle anything else! If life throws me anything else, I’m going to give up.”

I gave her a hug and told her to breathe.

“I know you are struggling and it’s true, you have a houseful of lemons right now. The most important thing you have to do is to breathe. I know it feels like the end of the world but it will get better. I promise you that!”

How do I know? I’m an example of someone who had been through the worst life can throw at you and still survive. Not only survive, but to conquer it head-on. I faced all my fears in the face and said, “Come on, is that the best you’ve got? I’m a daughter of God and am filled with the Light!”

Worrying about what’s going to happen or what’s happening is not the answer. In fact, it only makes it worse.

Breathe. The Universe is taking care of everything else.

Take a minute today and try deep breathing exercises. It can be anywhere (even the washroom). Close your eyes and for one full minute breathe in slowly and breathe out slowly. Let the peace wash over you and cleanse you of all the anxiety/stress building up inside.

The Soul is Like a Beautiful Flower… #inspiration #spirituality #affirmations

healthy soul

Is your soul getting its daily nutrients?

We pay so much attention to our physical bodies, ensuring we maintain a healthy life. But what about our spiritual health?

Think of your favorite flower and imagine it is your soul.

What does your soul need to survive and flourish?

Nutrients and loving light.

Our souls are in desperate need of the same things. We need the Light , Love and Truth to grow and bloom. Without those things, we wither and die.

Take a close look at your spiritual health and do whatever you need to in order to make sure it’s healthy. Refresh, restore and rejuvenate your soul. You will be happier, healthier and more beautiful than all the flowers in the world!

Feeling Frazzled? Take Time to Relax and Meditate #inspiration #longweekend #meditation

Has your life suddenly become chaotic and you’re wound up tighter than a coil?

Last week was completely draining for me.  There was so much going on and I was being pulled in a million different directions.

Friday, my nerves were frazzled and felt so out of control.  I got a lot done on Friday and by the time MR N came home from work, I was feeling pretty good. It was the start of a long weekend and dinner was fabulous. But then, our toilet handle broke. We were having people over (read my mother-in-law) Saturday morning and we needed to have a working toilet. Calling the Super was out of the question since it was a long weekend; they wouldn’t fix it until Wednesday. What to do? What to do?

My nerves fizzled out and all I wanted to do was to curl up in a ball and cry. I knew I needed to meditate, to center myself. While I did that,  MR N got on Google and found a solution. He came up with a brilliant plan (wake up early and head to Walmart) and we went to sleep Friday night. We got the part from Walmart in the morning and it took seconds to fix it. Now, we have a toilet that works better than before.

The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing and centering ourselves. It was exactly what we needed.

When life gets to you, how do you handle it?  Do you exercise, drink, cook, watch television, listen to music?

Sitting out on our solarium is a form of meditation.  I sit out there and put my feet up.  I look out at the trees and watch the trains go by.  I breathe in and out.  I empty my mind of all the thoughts that are swirling around like a hurricane.

According to the Dictionary, Meditate: to spend time in quiet thought for religious purposes or relaxation.

Every religion and spiritual practice incorporates meditation.  Even if you do not believe in any religion, deep breathing exercises are healthy for your body.

The next time you are dealing with a crazy day, take a few moments and meditate.  There is no right or wrong way.  Your spirit/soul will be refreshed and you will be ready to take on another day!

What do you do to relax? Share with us in the comments below.

Are You Exhausted and/or Dealing with #Fatigue? Listen to Your Body #inspiration #health

Are you feeling fatigued and/or burned out?

I woke up feeling fatigued and exhausted. My lower back complained and pain rocked my body. I’m exhausted. My body is screaming for a break and I have no choice but to listen.

One of the ways I battle fatigue is to go for a walk. The fresh air rejuvenates my lungs and cleanses my soul. The music I listen to is filled with happy beats and lyrics.

Listen to your body and do something to refresh yourself.

I strongly recommend going for a walk or exercise. Empty your mind of all the to-do’s and stressors. Release it all and be in the moment.

Another recommendation is meditation/prayer. Be one with yourself and your spirituality. Let peace fill your body with every breath.

Our body knows what we need and when it’s fatigued, it is informing us it needs a check-up STAT!

Don’t ignore the symptoms but combat fatigue head-on! You’ll be feeling great in no time!

What do you do to deal with exhaustion and fatigue? Any tips to share would be much appreciated!

No Matter What Happens, Be Grateful! #inspiration #spiritual #MaundyThursday

grateful for everything

I woke up this morning feeling so grateful.  My outlook is much better than it was when I went to bed last night.

Today is Maundy Thursday for us Christians and it’s a time to reflect, thank Jesus for the immense sacrifice He did in the name of love and realize how grateful we are.

I’m filled with gratitude for all the blessings in my life. But more so, I’m grateful for everything, including trials and tribulations. They’re an important part of my journey to becoming a better person.

What are you grateful for?

A bee bite.  I’m grateful.

The internet being slow. I’m grateful.

Rain and thunderstorms.  I’m grateful.

Life is too short to let things bother me.  I am alive and living a truly blessed life!

Even if I was homeless like the Walking Man, I would be grateful.

Be grateful for everything!!!

MRS N, totally grateful 🙂

Pray for Me (MRS N) #meditation #prayer

Asking for help

I’m taking my own advice today and asking for help.

For the past week, I have been dealing with a horrible sinus infection. Normally, I can handle that. But this time, I have extra fun with nosebleeds. Every day, my nose (for whatever reason) starts bleeding non-stop.

I went to the doctor and he said it’s perfectly normal and I need time to heal. He offered surgery but I declined. I try to avoid surgery at all costs.

I strongly believe in the power of positive thinking and prayers/meditation. But I’m weak and in need of help.

Please pray/meditate that the nosebleeds stop permanently. Please pray/meditate for strength to return to my body. Please pray/meditate for my spirit to be boosted and for the smile to return to my face.

I thank you for listening and for standing with me in my time of need.

Share the Light and Keep the Flame Burning #inspiration #affirmations #spiritual

Light Candle

Do you know someone going through a hard time? Is the world around them crumbling?

Crank up the Light inside and bathe others in the glow.

I have a friend of mine who’s going through a really hard time. She’s a fellow blogger, writer and social media maven. She (and her family) are under attack and she wrote a blog post update last night. It made me cry and I immediately went to work.

I put on my Supergirl cape, clasped my hands tightly together and prayed/meditated. I focused on the Light inside me and covered my friend and her family in a blanket of Light. I asked for the Universe to protect her and for the darkness to flee.

I then sent her a message telling her how much I loved her and that she’s not dealing with this battle alone. I’m with her and nothing can defeat her.

When people are in the pits of despair and darkness is all around them, they feel hope slipping away. That’s where we come in. We’re the Light Bearers and our flame needs to burn bright for them to see their way through the darkness.

Call up your friend/family member and tell them you’re with them in the darkness. Hold their hand, hug them, kiss them, do whatever it takes to let them know you care.

Let your flame burn through the darkness. Share the Light.

Everyone is on a Spiritual Path… #inspiration #spiritual #meditation

spiritual path

People talk about spirituality like it’s some quest. We’re not a character from Lord of the Rings, people. Every moment, from birth until death, is part of the spiritual path.

When I was in my early twenties, I was restless and felt like I was missing something. So, I tried to find my spiritual self. I experimented with all sorts of things and in the end, I learned there are several avenues to spirituality but they all lead to the same place: my spiritual path.

Are you searching for the Light? Look inside. You’re a carrier of the Light and all you have to do is let it shine.

Everyone is on a spiritual path and there is no right or wrong way to find it. No matter what your spiritual belief may be, we are all carriers of the Light. Open yourself up to all that the Universe has in store for you.

The spiritual path is simply the journey of living our lives. Everyone is on a spiritual path… most people just don’t know it yet.

Are You Unstoppable? #inspiration #motivation #affirmations

be unstoppable

Are you unstoppable?

When I was little, I was told that I could do anything, the world was my oyster, etc. As a ten year old, I was filled with big dreams and aspirations.

When I became an adult and entered the “real world”, my dreams were replaced by working hard and making money. I shoved my dreams in the back of the closet and was, in fact, miserable.

It wasn’t until I started this blog did my dreams come back to the forefront of my mind. Through hard work and persistence, I made my dream come true of being a published author.

I’m unstoppable.

Don’t bury your dreams or replace your aspirations with reality. Your dreams can be your reality. You have the capability of being anything, just like when you were young.

Are you ready?

Write down your dreams and remember to dream big. Every day (or several times a day), meditate over your dreams and create a plan to make them reality. Then do it!

Let this be your daily meditation:

I choose to be unstoppable. I am bigger than my concerns and worries. The strength of others inspires me daily. I focus on my goal. I trust my intuition and live a courageous life.

Look at you; you’re unstoppable!!

Are You a Dreamer? I am! #inspiration #dreams #meditation

Are you a dreamer?

I am and I’m proud of it.

Being a dreamer means you have hopes and you’re using your imagination to makes your dreams come true.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamt of being a published author and making a living writing and talking about books. I worked my butt off and now I’m living my dream. 🙂

What are your dreams?

No matter how small, write down your dreams. Be very specific. Author Michael Samuels calls it his “I Want” list. When you write down your dreams and what you want to accomplish in your life, they become active.

Every morning, meditate over your dream list. I know it sounds silly but trust me, it works. The more you meditate over your dreams, the more your subconscious will work to make them come true.

Dreaming is only the first step but what a marvelous activity! Like John Lennon says:

You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will live as one.

Keep dreaming!

What is true happiness?

I think it’s different for each person but the essence is the same: be in the moment. One of my mantras is the seize the day and cherish every moment.

I used to pine for the future, thinking that happiness was just out of my reach. It wasn’t until I started living in the moment did happiness flood my soul.

True happiness is… is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future.

Positive Thoughts Change Your Life #inspiration #positiveaffirmations #positivethoughts

thinking positive

Can the simple act of thinking positively change your life?

You bet!

There’s a lot of negative thoughts running around the world. It’s easy to get caught up in negativity. Life can be a challenge.

I’m a big believer in positive thinking. For the past five years, I’ve worked hard to shut out negative thoughts. Trust me, it’s not easy, especially this week.

I’ve been dealing with a lot… and it’s only Tuesday morning. I woke up this morning feeling tired and a little low. As I was getting breakfast ready, I did a little meditation. I focused on the positive blessings in my life and my perspective shifted from negative to positive. Now, I’m ready to tackle whatever life throws at me.

Thinking positive thoughts will always empower you! Do it enough and it will change your life!

Every day, when faced with negative thoughts/moments/people, meditate on five positive thoughts. You’ll switch from negative to positive and soon see how powerful positivism is.

Are You Stressed? Remember This #inspiration #motivation #stressed

stress step back

Are you stressed out?

Yesterday was an exciting yet stressful day for me. I had a busy day filled with new release tasks, running my author promotions business, plus normal household/family obligations. There was so much going on, my head spun.

I took a few deep breaths, closed my eyes and gave myself this pep talk:

“You’re doing great! You’ve got this and remember how strong you are. MR N is proud of you and so is the Universe.”

When you’re stressed out, it’s important to remind yourself how awesome you are and this little bump in the road will soon be a distant memory. Do what I did and meditate.

Got a big deadline?

You’ll make it.

Have a big day filled with a lot of things to do?

You’ll rock it.

Follow the advice in the graphic and you can overcome anything. The stress will melt away and you’ll be continuing on life’s journey with a smile.

Taking Care of Yourself #inspiration #relaxation #meditation

Are you taking care of yourself?

It’s a super busy time of the year for me. If I didn’t take care of myself, I’d be a mess. The stress alone would chew my insides to bits.

In order to combat stress, I make time throughout the day to relax, recharge and rejuvenate. Every hour or so, I get up from my desk and walk around. I go sit out on my solarium and watch the trees sway in the breeze. In the evening, I relax with MR N. I get a good night’s sleep (7.5 hours a night).

What do you do to take care of yourself? Share in the comments below.

Take a few minutes every day to relax and you, too, will be taking care of yourself. 🙂

Are you filled with worry?

I have to admit, many times throughout my week, worried thoughts fill my brain. It’s a weakness of mine and I have to mentally stop myself from worrying myself to death.

MR N doesn’t worry about anything. His faith is strong and he constantly reminds me to just let go and everything will work out fine.

I saw this graphic this morning and it resonated with me.

Worry is a total waste of time. It doesn’t change anything. All it does is steal your joy and keeps you very busy doing nothing.

Don’t let worry steal your joy!
