A New Perspective: #Grateful #Blessed #TuesdayThoughts

Is your perspective mostly positive, mostly negative or somewhere in between?

As many of you know, I’m mostly positive. I look at life through positively rosy lenses. Sure, life can throw obstacles in my way and I have struggled through more stuff than the average person goes through but when it comes down to brass tacks, I’m blessed.

I have a roof over my head, food to eat, a man who loves me more than anything in the world and am making a difference in the world through my words and actions. Everything else is icing on the cake.

It’s time to get a new perspective, people. Instead of looking at what you don’t have or what you haven’t achieved yet, concentrate on all the blessings in your life. Be grateful for everything and try to see the positive in all circumstances. The hardships you’re enduring are strengthening and molding you into the person you’re going to become. Like a diamond, you need pressure to bring out your brilliance.

Is the World Against You? Refocus and Then Take Flight! #inspiration #motivation #MondayBlogs

Are you struggling and it feels like the world is against you?

It’s time to refocus. Instead of saying to yourself, “woe is me”, envision you’re a mighty airplane and take off. Airplanes, no matter the size, take off against the wind. That’s pretty impressive when you think about it. An airplane, in order to reach its destination, first has to encounter massive resistance. It can’t leave the ground, let alone fly, without gravity and wind pushing against it.

What if, today and every day, we imagine ourselves to be a jet and every obstacle we receive is just allowing us to fly to new heights?

Shift your perspective and welcome resistance. Before you know it, you’ll be flying among the stars.

Are the Storms in Your Life Preventing You From Seeing the Sun? #inspiration #motivation #MondayBlogs

stormy life

Are you going through a difficult time? Has 2017 been a hellish year?

You’re in the middle of a vicious storm that rivals Hurricane Katrina. You’re drenched and you haven’t seen the sun for months. What to do?

Don’t confuse your path with your destination. Just because it’s stormy now doesn’t mean that you aren’t headed for sunshine.

You can make it through the storm. Cling to your umbrella and keep moving forward. The storm will eventually pass and you will be surrounded by the sun! 🙂

Are You Moving Forward or Just Looking Forward? #inspiration #MondayBlogs #Monday

Are you moving forward or just looking forward?

The future is unknown and yet there are many of us who pine for the future, look forward to the future and generally live in the future. The present doesn’t matter, only the future.

Is that really a way to live?

Listen, when I was younger, I lived in the future. I didn’t give a damn about the past or the present. I was miserable and wanted out of the life I was living. So, I propelled myself to the future with thoughts like these:

When I get older, I’ll be successful and show those bullies I’m somebody.

When I get older, I’ll show all those guys what a mistake they made dumping me.

When I become a successful author, I’ll show those agents what a mistake they made not choosing me as a client.

On and on these thoughts went and you know what? I wasn’t moving forward, just looking forward.

Life is meant to be lived in the present. Don’t make the same mistakes as me. Plan for the future but live in the now.

“You’ll never know for sure what tomorrow holds unless you keep moving forward.”

One to Ten: Squirrel’s Bad Day by @CarolePRoman #bookreview #FridayReads #kidlit

Title: One to Ten: Squirrel’s Bad Day

Author: Carole P. Roman (Author), Mateya Arkova (Illustrator)

Genre: Children’s Picture Books, Children’s Books

Book Blurb:

Squirrel is rushing along a tree limb when she trips, losing all her acorns into the rushing water of the river below. Angry and frustrated, she doesn’t know what to do. Her good friend, Rabbit, lends both a sympathetic ear as well as a solution.

Rather than get angry, Rabbit tells her, rate the problem on a scale of one-to-ten. By identifying and realizing the true importance of the issue, the issue may not seem so overwhelming.

Adorable forest creatures help the sad squirrel put everything into perspective so he does not to get stuck in a rut over something that may not be a big deal after all.

My Review:

We’ve all had bad days when nothing seems to go right; Squirrel’s no different. After picking acorns, she accidentally trips and all her acorns fall into the river. Distraught, she starts to cry. Her friend, Rabbit, comes along and helps Squirrel gain some perspective.

In the vein of Dr. Seuss, Carole P. Roman takes something everyone can relate to (a bad day) and teaches a valuable lesson: perspective. Rating each problem is an easy and fun way to bring perspective clearly into view.

Readers young and old will find value in this colorful picture book. The whimsical wording makes this a rhyming story while the beautiful, colorful illustrations takes the reader deep into the forest.

I, myself, was having a bad day when I first read it and by the time I finished, I was smiling and the clouds had lifted. An inspiring book and one that I will be re-reading. Best book by Roman to date. I highly recommend this book!

Disclaimer: I received an paperback copy from the author in the hopes I’d review it.

Favorite Quote: “When you have a problem, whether it’s big or small, think of a number to rate it, maybe it won’t bother you at all.”

My Rating:  5+ stars

You’ve Gotta Live in the Moment… Today’s a Special Gift! #inspiration #WednesdayWisdom

Are you living in the moment?  Do you see today as a gift or are you focused on the past?

A friend of mine is going through a rough time.  He emailed me yesterday and was at the end of his rope.  He was focusing on the past and all that had happened to him.

I asked him, “Are you focusing on today or on the past?”

He didn’t answer me but I knew the answer.  He’s so focused on all the heartache of the past, he’s missing the present.

Have you ever done that?

I’ve focused solely on the past hurts that I almost missed out on life’s gifts.  I was miserable until I refocused myself.  When I focus on today and all that it has to offer, I see the miracle of life.

Focus on today.  It only comes along once and it is the best present you will ever receive!

When You Think Things are Bad…You’re Really Quite Lucky! #inspiration #motivation

Inspiring DR S

Are you dealing with a lot right now and feel like giving up?

I know it sounds like a fairy tale but even in the midst of all that you’re dealing with, you’re lucky. Now, now, give me a second to explain.

Do you have a roof over your head? Food to eat? You’re breathing, right? Clothing to wear?

There are millions of people around the world (and in your own backyard) who don’t have those basic comforts. They’re homeless, starving, dead or even wearing the same clothes for a month. It’s an eye-opening revelation, isn’t it?

This past week has been crazy for both MR N and myself. Work is overworking us and we’re exhausted. Our life is overflowing with things to do and places to go. It’s the busy time of the year and at one point, I broke down and cried.

MR N pulled me into his arms and whispered to me, “Darling, this is what success feels like.”

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be successful, have enough money not to worry how I’m going to pay the bills or even eat, be proud of the work I’m doing, loved by a man who adores me and enjoy a nice glass of wine at the end of the day. I’m truly blessed as I have all those things and more.

So, I’ve switched my perspective from “woe is me” to “gosh, I’m lucky”. Taking Dr. Seuss’ advice is as easy as breathing.

“So tell yourself, Ducky, you’re really quite lucky!”

Rejected or Redirected? You Decide #inspiration #motivation #perspective

Rejection. It’s something we all deal with but what if we’re not being rejected but re-directed instead?

As an author, I’ve had my share of rejection. I have an email folder dedicated to all those industry professionals who rejected my writing. At the time of the rejection, I was crushed. I thought my life was over and I wasn’t very good.

But as I look back on it now, I know it was the Universe leading me to where I am today. I’m a successful author with three books published and more on the way. 😉

As a woman, I was rejected by several men (for various reasons). If they hadn’t rejected me, I never would’ve met and fallen in love with MR N.

Have you encountered a road block and are feeling the sting of rejection? It could be a re-direction to put you on the right path.

As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being re-directed to something better.

Today Choose Life #inspiration #motivation #lifelessons

Every morning when we wake up, we make a choice.

Do I get up or stay in bed?

This morning I chose to get up.

The next choice we make is our perspective. Do we choose to look through positive or negative glasses?

You already know my answer. I try to always look at the world in a positive way.

How about you?

Are you looking at the world around you with rose-tinted lenses or are they more grey?

Today choose life and choose to be free to make mistakes through the choices you make. Today choose to be positive, no matter if the world around you is filled with negativity. You’ll be a bright, shining star and will glow with your inner Light like a beacon.

🙂 MRS N 🙂

Words to Live By: Dr Seuss #inspiration #MondayMotivation #MondayBlogs

Approach life as a child, like in this quote by my favorite children’s fiction author, and you’ll be happy. Take out your fantasy goggles and put them on. You might even get a visit from the Cat in the Hat. 😉

Rowing Upstream #Mondayblogs #inspiration #positiveaffirmations

Inspiring DR S

I woke up Sunday morning to a flood in our solarium, dining room and kitchen. MR N told me not to panic so of course I did. lol! We called our Superintendent and he helped us mop up the inch or two of water.

This minor flooding caused a disruption to our relaxing Sunday.

Did I freak out?

Am I tired?

You bet!

Are you rowing upstream on the river of life?

Just when you think you’re through with complications and stressful situations, you cross over into the rapids. You fight against the current as hard as you can, praying you don’t drown.

When I face a disruption, I deal with it, knowing it will soon pass. Your boat is made of strong materials, stronger than you know. I promise you won’t drown.

How do I deal with the rapids?

I know I am very lucky the water was not sewage water; it was clean tap water. Things could’ve turned out much worse.

You’re very lucky too!

Take Dr. Seuss’ advice. I am. 😀

A Shift In Perspective: Go With the Flow #inspiration #perspective #meditation

Are you a go-getter who needs a plan?

MR N and I have always worked hard and recently have needed to scale back. We realized that in order to not let the stress dictate our lives, we needed to let go and go with the flow.

I love this graphic and it inspired me to release my tight grip on life. Instead of going against the current of life, it’s far easier to turn around and go with the current.

Are you struggling with something right now?

Turn 180 degrees and take this advice:

Breathe, trust, let go and see what happens.

What are the Odds? #inspirational #amwriting #motivation

What are the odds of success, happiness, contentment, peace, etc. in this world?

I hear a lot of statistics in my daily life:

World Population: 7 billion

1 in 3 Americans are very happy

5% of authors bring in royalties over $100,000 per year

55% of marriages end in divorce

Does that scare me?

Not really. In fact, when told that the odds are against me, I tend to try for it anyway. Call it ego or stubbornness, when told I can’t do something just makes me go after it more.

I work in an industry that the odds are stacked high against me. The Big 5 publishers are the House and I’m supposed to lose all my chips. Little do they know, I hold two aces.

Ace #1: I’m a born storyteller and I’m a published author.

Ace #2: Success for authors is all a matter of perspective. Do I make $100,000 on royalties? No. Am I happy and proud of my work? YES!

I beat the odds and accomplished something that many writers only dream of. I can hold my book in my hands.

What about you? Are you going after a dream and feeling a little defeated?

Stand up and shout to the world:

I don’t care what the odds are; I’m going to succeed!

Never let the odds keep you from doing what you know in your heart you were meant to do.

Are You Flexible? #inspirationalthought #positiveaffirmation #beinspired

What is your reaction when life throws you a curveball? Do you panic and freak out or do you roll with it and make adjustments?

Are you flexible?

Yesterday at four o’clock pm, I went to go have a bath. My legs were screaming in pain and my back muscles were tight. I started to run the water and added lavender bubble bath. I put my hand under the water to adjust the hot water and all I felt was ice cold water.

I turned off the water and stared at it for a second or two. What to do? I sighed and called the superintendent of our building. I spoke calmly with her and I’m glad I did. She had no idea what was going on.

I was counting on having a hot bath. I needed it to reduce some stress in me.

Did I panic and rage? Did I freak out and cry?

I was calm and rolled with it. See, I’m more flexible now whenever life throws a wrench into my plans. I have learned this is a much better way to live than freaking out.

I love the graphic above and thank you, Claire Cook, for bringing some humor to a very human situation. We all deal with problems or obstacles in life. They could be as simple as no hot water for a few hours or as serious as a job loss, poverty, losing a house, death, break-up or a failing grade at school.

If Plan A doesn’t work, the alphabet has 25 more letters.

We all have plans and when they don’t turn out how we hoped, get creative and try Plan B-Z!!!

P. S. We had hot water by eight o’clock pm. 😀

Gratitude A to Z: Z is for Zest #gratitude #inspirationalthought #affirmations

zest WD

Today I am thankful for my zest for life. I wake up each morning feeling alive and ready to see what will happen that day. My outlook is positive and I tackle my to-do list with renewed energy.

Do you go through life with your head down? Do you like Walt Disney and approach life with zeal?

Contrary to popular belief, it is easy to live life happily. It’s all in your perspective. What’s that old saying… it takes more muscles to frown than to smile.

Having a zest for life is simply being positive and happy.

You can do it! Go on and try it for a day, week or even a month.

*** P.S. I hope you enjoyed this month of gratitude. I hope I have inspired you in some way all month long to let gratitude live your heart every day, not just a few days a year. I’m so grateful for each of you taking a moment to read my blog. Thank you!***
