Instead of Worrying, Accept Some Things are Out of Your Control #inspiration #motivation

happiness

Are you worrying about things that are out of your control?

Worrying doesn’t lead to happiness. All it leads to stress and unhappiness.

Yesterday, I felt like the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. From the time I started working (8:00 am) until the time MR N came home from work, I was an hour behind. I had a to-do list a mile long and kept whispering, “I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date.”

I had a choice. I could worry about how I was going to get everything done before 5:30 pm or I could work through my list, one item at a time.

Which one do you think I chose?

I went with the latter and it worked. Even though it felt like I was constantly behind, eventually I caught up and at 5:30 pm, I completed everything on my to-do list.

Worrying doesn’t do anything except distract you from getting a job done.

Take MR N’s advice: you never have to worry; all is in control.

Today is #InternationalDayofHappiness and #Happiness is Within Your Grasp #MondayBlogs

true happiness

Happy International Day of Happiness! Today, we’re talking about one of my favorite topics: happiness.

Are you happy? Do you spread happiness and joy wherever you go?

I know, I know, most of us are tired of the whole “Pollyanna Syndrome”, especially when we’re going through a hard time. Trust me, I understand. What I’m talking about is true happiness, not fake happiness. Let me give you an example:

Back in February, I went from being happy to anxious in a matter of moments. Suddenly, my peace went out the window and I was spiraling downwards. I started having anxiety attacks and worrying about “stuff”. What were we going to do? How are we going to make it through?

MR N, meanwhile, had no worries and continued to be happy. He knew in his heart that everything was going to turn out better than we could imagine. “Have faith, my love,” he said. “Be happy and trust in the Lord.”

BOOM! I was in the midst of a spiritual crossroads. Did I have faith? Did I trust in God to provide for us and if so, then why wasn’t I happy?

True happiness, is a journey, not a destination.

Last week, our prayers were answered and everything is taken care of. I got on my knees and thanked God. I felt shame for not having faith and while I was wallowing in my pity, a realization hit: I chose not to stay on the path of happiness but to veer off-course to a thorny trail of misery and despair.

So, on this day and every day, embrace your path of happiness and have faith. Learn from my mistakes and be the embodiment of true happiness. Be grateful for what you have and who you are. Don’t be fake; be happy.

There’s One Way to Happiness and It’s Easier Than You Think #ThursdayThoughts

happiness

Did you know that worrying suffocates happiness from your life?

I’m worried about something and like usual, it’s keeping me from enjoying life. I try not to worry about it and for the most part, it doesn’t bother me. But last night, worry took over. MR N asked me what was going on and I made a joke of it. This was his response:

“It’s already taken care of. Done. Finito. Stop worrying and be happy, my love.”

I finally had to give myself a shake. If MR N wasn’t worried then I won’t be either. I woke up this morning happier and feeling almost 100%.

Life throws us curve balls and in order to be happy, we have to stop worrying!

Do like MR N says and realize it’s already taken care of. It’s out of our hands so we might as well let happiness reign.

Worry is a Waste of Time and Doesn’t Change Anything! #inspiration #WednesdayWisdom

worry-waste-of-time

Is your stomach tied in knots and you’re not sleeping?

Worrying about something or someone is a total waste of time.

WAIT! Before you shut off this message, hear me out.

I’m a worrier and my first instinct is to worry when something happens. I worry about a lot of things and I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Worrying about something/someone hasn’t helped me one bit. In fact, most of the time, all it does is make me feel miserable and makes it worse.

  1. Instead of worrying, meditate about the situation. Release your death grip on it and let the Universe take over.
  2. Breathe… yes, breathing is important too. Take several deep breaths and mentally tell yourself it’s going to be okay.
  3. Smile, you’re living your life and have many blessings. Take out a piece of paper of write down all you’re grateful for. Don’t hold back.

Worry is a total waste of time. It doesn’t change anything. All it does is steal your joy and keep you very busy doing nothing.

What do you do to combat worry? Share in the comments below.

Stop Worrying About the Potholes… #inspiration #worry #affirmations

worrying

I’m a worrier.  It’s been a part of me ever since I was a little girl.  What if the restaurant doesn’t have cheeseburgers?  What if the kids in school don’t like me?  What if I don’t get this job or ace this test?  What if that guy I like doesn’t feel the same way about me?  What if the dentist/doctor causes me pain? What if I don’t sell another book?

Life is filled with ifs and I believe the key to living a great life is not worrying about what might happen.

It’s a daily struggle for me to push down the worry and enjoy life. Whenever a worry pops into my head, I combat it with five positive thoughts and/or gratitude statements. They include:

I’m living my dream life.

I have all my basic needs taken care of and am truly blessed.

If they don’t have cheeseburgers, maybe I’ll get a chicken sandwich.

Pain is my friend and luckily, it’s only temporary.

There’s no need to worry so let’s quit worrying and just enjoy what happens! I’m going to embody the quote above and celebrate the journey!

Are you filled with worry?

I have to admit, many times throughout my week, worried thoughts fill my brain. It’s a weakness of mine and I have to mentally stop myself from worrying myself to death.

MR N doesn’t worry about anything. His faith is strong and he constantly reminds me to just let go and everything will work out fine.

I saw this graphic this morning and it resonated with me.

Worry is a total waste of time. It doesn’t change anything. All it does is steal your joy and keeps you very busy doing nothing.

Don’t let worry steal your joy!

Quit Worrying

What if the dentist causes me pain?

Life is filled with ifs and I believe the key to living a great life is not worrying about what might happen.  I have to go to the dentist today and this morning I started to worry about it.  It wasn’t until MR N pulled me into a hug that the worry melted away.

No need to worry so let’s quit worrying and just enjoy what happens! I’m going to be like this starfish and just go with the flow!

Why Worry???

Why Worry

As you all know, I love and admire Walt Disney.  I came across this quote and it made me smile.  As a writer, I sometimes worry.  Okay, maybe I worry a lot. 😀  What if my writing isn’t reaching people?  What if my book isn’t any good?  What if I can’t land a literary agent?  What if I can’t get published?

My mind reels and I have to go sit down.

Are you faced with something and let yourself worry?  If so, let’s both read aloud this quote and breathe.  Worrying about something doesn’t make it go better or make it go away.  In fact, it just makes our head and heart hurt.

Let’s think positively and grab a new perspective!!!  Check out this quote:

JK Rowling

Wow!  Imagine that!  J.K. Rowling was turned down several times.  But she was persistent and didn’t worry.  Look at her now!

Let’s stomp out worry and smile instead!  If J. K. Rowling can do it, we can too! 🙂
